The best approach is to keep sending links after the 301 redirect. Something very important is to never redirect too many domains.

Interesting comparison! I’ve seen similar result. 301s are great for a quick bump, but backlinks seem to hold stronger over time. I’d still go with backlinks for long-term stability.

for my DA 90 site (20 years old domain) I always get a backlink indexed and ranked by google in 5-7 days.
i think google crawls, indexes and ranks sites having very high authority quickly.
But for my normal site having DA 60 it takes about a month to get my pages rank for the backlink received.

Took about 10-14 days to see a solid boost. The domain I used for the 301 had clean, niche relevant links, which made a big difference.

I have used both, redirect works for short period of time and niche relevant 301s can do wonders. But regular backlinks works for long time. Best choice is use both of them wisely.

Your obersation is quite correct. 301 passess the existing domain links juices, which domain may have better link profile/ authority.
That's also a good point to mention here while doing 301 redirect.
and don't stop building regular backlinks in the process to get consistent results as well.

Manual backlinks definitely perform better long-term for me — more natural signals and less risk of penalties. 301s are great for quick wins but not as stable in the long run.

how is it now?
I just recently did 301 from one of my domains; it's niche-relevant and sold backlink profiles. Last few days got a solid boost in traffic; hopefully it will stay like that.
