Hi guys, need your help.

Working with a young website (4 months old), built on WordPress. About 2 months ago noticed template pages in the Google index. (news, our team etc.) They were 301 redirected to another page accordingly. But as these 2 months passed, these non-existent, redirected pages still show up in index! These pages are not in the sitemap, I don't understand how to get rid of them. Could you please help?

Also, there are sitemap pages in the index too, which also confuses me. Thank you all for help in advance.

If the pages are not supposed to be indexed you can ensure they shouldn't be in the sitemap, which you have done, and then remove them in the Google Search Console.

Thank you, that helped, those pages are not in the index anymore.

Could you please advice whether I should do the same with sitemap pages (which appear in index with date parameters, or just simply a link to the sitemap), meaning should I delete them in GSC?
