301 redirect vs PBN

This is the Domain. The 6 external backlinks point to the computer science department of a university. My niche is about laptops and computers. Right now im on the fence with this domain and im not sure if it will make a good pbn or 301 redirect to my 2 week old website. Also, thanks a ton for the input guys!

That is why 301 is in place in the first place to move your site to a new domain, so i see no problem here

I like .edu links, but the raw metrics there aren't crazy exactly. If you're shopping for a domain to 301 then why not gather some more options so you have 3 or 4 to choose from and pick the best one for your 301 if that.s something you would like to do for this new site? It sounds like you want to dabble in boosting your domain with a 301, so at least give yourself a few options.

It's not that easy, for example, linking multiple sites greatly increases the risk of you PBN getting found by Google, especially if it's all your PBN sites link to all your money sites. Very obvious pattern/footprint. Becoming greedy, wating to safe time, effort and money, trying to get the most out of it, can easily kill your PBN.

ThopHavt got it right: Select the best domain(s) for a 301, no more than 2. Be really picky. Use the rest for a PBN.

In general I'd always go for highest quality possible anyway, even for PBN sites. PBNs aren't about the number of domains and the less PBN domains you need to rank, the less obvious your backlink profile will look in case of a manual review. Often means building takes some time, waiting for the right domains, but impatience always results in getting loads of medicore domains.

what if the country tlds I want to use to boost my money site's ranking don't allow whois privacy? then PBN won't be an option.
I gathered ~10 expired domains like that that are highly relevant to my money site, some from old competitors. with relevant links and google indexed. Should I just 301 and hope for the best or make each a separate stand alone e-commerce business in the same niche and all officially owned by the same entity? (PBN is not an option)
