301 doesn't want to work properly!

Hey guys!

Three months ago, I implemented a 301 redirect from my old site (casino site on expired drop domain) to my newly registered site (which I had registered and set up about three months prior). Before the 301 redirect, the old site ranked in the top 3-7, while the newly registered site ranked around positions 20-30. After the 301 redirect, nothing changed. The old site is still ranking in the top 3-10, whereas the newly registered site is experiencing fluctuating rankings.

Usually, the new site takes the positions of the old one and ranks higher due to having the keyword in the domain name. I don't know what to do to make this happen. I would appreciate any advice.

Have you done 301 properly? because last time i did for one of my client and its same casino niche, after 3-4 months almost rankings are back and only a minor drop.

Yes, the 301 redirect is set up correctly

5th of May update could be the reason for this. check it out.

Yes, May be because of the recent update. so wait few days to see the updates on the rankings.

Make sure your new site is strong technically and has relevant content from the old site to improve its ranking after the 301 redirect.

It takes time(weeks to months) for the new site to receive all the rankings of the old site.

If you did everything right, all I'll recommend you do is wait and see how it goes. While doing so, do check if there have been any form of change on the SERP. If there are massive changes, then it may mean there's been an update and reshuffling of the result which affected your site.
