26 Service Days Left (ORM Method)

Coming to a Close:
This will be the final wrap-up of my journey to gathering clients within 26 Phone Service Days.
I've collected nearly 100 prospects and am nearly finished delivering the letters w/cards.
I do operate a website for this so I advertise this on my letters, but you can
easily achieve results with a phone number or email to explain the process to clients.

I advise looking in local newspapers and magazines, even local-owned websites to check who's advertising.
These are perfect customers since they already have a budget to promote themselves.
I don't want to give away too much, but we'll see within the remaining 6 days what
else I feel like sharing. You can copy my template and techniques or spice things up yourself.
Thanks to
7878 for inspiration, and all the members supporting my journey up to now.
Also, I charge no less than $499 a month and use
OriginalPoster's review service on this forum.
Maybe I'll record a phone call closing a deal, we'll see...

Good luck, hope it works out for you. I sold orm for a while as well.

Looking forward to see the results. Nice work so far :-)

WARNING:

Not all business owners update their listings info. I walked into an Eatery and it was under new ownership from the name I gathered off Manta.
The only way I figure one can find the legitimate name is to have access to legal files online, which likely costs a pretty membership fee.
Just throwing this out there, nobody wants to be called Martha when their name is Henry.

(︺︹︺) UNFORTUNATE NEWS (^◡^ )
BUT MY STORY DOES NOT END HERE!

After applying this method in the aforementioned twist, I have received website hits but
NO CONTACT.

This can be for a variety of reasons.
I will be following up with a call to my clients (shush, they WILL be!)
come Monday. I wanted them to see their Reviews or lack thereof for themselves,
and also get an idea of how I can help them by reading my site.

There is a chance the Holiday Cards take away the Urgency of the note,
so I will be tweaking this and reporting the results.
People are also busy spending money on gifts, not business so much.
We will test this theory come the New Year.

The point is; I spent $157 on an unforgettable lesson.
Just one Client gained will make up for the investment x4 minimum.

!!MOST IMPORTANT NOTE EVER!!
It hurts me to forgo the personal touch of adding the Owners Name, but I have
walked into recently purchased buildings where the owner switched -
- as well as Managers who apparently come & go like hotcakes.
I advise calling the company up DAYS before mailing/delivering, and asking if
[insert owners name] is available. If they say "I'm not aware of any [owners name]"
Hang up kindly and skip them. This really wasted my time most in this Journey.

I've considered Cold Calling as I've written up a script and studied the basics.
We'll wait on this because Letters DO WORK, I just need to make them work where I live.

+ 26 Service Days Has Passed Away +
I will report the total outcome of my work when results come in.
Thank you for joining me. I truly mean that.
This is my very first attempt at a Journey and will not be my last.
Don't be disheartened though...something very big is coming to BHW next year
and select members already got a taste.

Have a Wonderful Holiday Season my fellow Blackhatters!

P.S
If any member wants to say "I told you so"
Your 26 Service Days begin Now.

Why don't you just compress everything you've done so far, in such a way that it costs you a few dollars to do, and just repeat the whole process everyday? that should see you through.

Thank you Panther28.
I'd decided to let the Holidays pass before re-launching my mission. This actually doesn't hurt because I have other projects to run and won't be half-assing this.
This also gives me time to further adjust my Search Results to my liking when prospects look me up.
I'd even been advised by my friend OriginalPoster to act again when the timing's right.
But I'll still hand out the remaining Holiday Cards as a friendly gesture, since my link is printed at the bottom. A little subliminal magic haha.

We know getting negative companies to bite has its challenges; I was targeting 0-Review companies on top of that! With the extra cash they'll make this season, I'm going to grab them in the coming months.

Would advertising in Local newspaper ad would help you to get potential customer ? without spending much :o ?
I am just assuming, you may not reach people who may be interested in such stuff. There are always business owners
who continuously implement new things to make things work better :)

Just as an advise :) if i had a business and had my eyes on something similar ads , 5 times out of 10 i would make a call to discuss

Thank you too nishantsarkar. I oddly haven't thought about that approach. The biggest strength of reaching out to businesses instead of waiting for them to find me, is going straight to the ones who need it now. It weeds out the businesses that don't. I'll utilize ads on my next launch and see what comes of it!

Are you approaching your client with a promise to have positive reviews !
Or better solutions and reach people with honest reviews ?

The latter, it's simple and to the point. I clearly show how their Bad/Nonexistent reviews are hurting their conversions & pushing them out of sight on the search engines (review sites rank like nothing else). The ones with old reviews (good or bad) is the same principle really. I'll admit after going for ANY business that isn't managing its rep...I'm shooting solely for awful reviews now. I need to get a name built around town before the others will come my way, I feel.

Pointers for new Rep Consultants

As you know this journey was launched at a less ideal time of the year, I'm re-launching early
2014.
Here is why, along with some tips you may not have thought of.
(I didn't think of them either until recently)

#1 Business Budgeting:
Businesses that take themselves seriously always draw out a budget, and tend to stick with it in 3, 6 and sometimes 12 month periods.
Catching them at the beginning of the year gives them a fresh marketing option when they're possibly ready for one.
Remember they could be in budget already or contracted with someone else, so even if they don't call back
immediately it doesn't mean they won't when time comes to pitch a new marketing plan.

#2 Chain of Command:
When going for medium or large names, you likely have to deal with the Chain of Command.
In essence, this is your letter striking someone as a good idea but perhaps they need to speak
with the/another decision maker before they call you.
You can just as easily skip big chains especially if you're getting your foot in the door.
But when you're me....big names just mean more fun; and more money.
(seriously, if you DON'T charge $1000/$10,000+ to these clients they won't even consider you.)

#3 Your Leads Just Suck:
This is mainly your fault, since it's our decision on who we want to target.
It's not always the case and certainly not an excuse, but every so often I'll find a business that
doesn't market (let alone budget for it) or they don't understand its value so they
skimp on marketing funds. Crappy business owners exist, you just have to chance it and move on.

#4 Your 7878 Letter is Spam:
That guy's letter has been around for years and heavily abused by damn near everyone. So the chances
of them having seen it a thousand times is very realistic.
If you are planning on diving into ORM because of 7878 or people who successfully pulled it off; I'd go further than adding your own twist.
Honestly the only thing necessary to keep is the Bad Reviews printout. Invent your own letter if you add one.

BONUS #5
Owning another business that uses ORM itself:

There's nothing more powerful than connecting with leads, and we often forget to be human while trying to be some mafia boss about it.
I operate another business (it's like upselling without trying) and mention how I've used ORM to increase exposure and sales.
When you can show hard facts AND prove it works (afterall what better way to get your first client than to be your first client!?)
they'll feel 100x more confident since you use it yourself with results.
A chef who doesn't eat his own food, is not a chef I want to order from.

Hope this helps you all, Happy Holidays and I'll see you next year!
