2020 BHW Design Competition

Announcing: the BHW design competition! We want to shine a light on the members of this forum who are also talented designers. After the global pandemic, we thought it was high time we had something positive and creative to focus on. So for all you designers, this is your chance to strut your stuff and show us what you've got.

We want you to come up with a design that screams 2020, embodies all that is BHW and would look killer on our merchandise (think t-shirts, sweatshirts, caps, etc). You can handle that, right? Post your design in this thread and the five designs with the most likes will get shortlisted for the final round. To vote, simply click the 'Like' button on the design(s) you want to win.

Although there's no cash prize, you will get the glory of being the 2020 BHW design competition winner, and more eyes on your marketplace thread. Now that's not to be sneezed at (especially not in the time of Covid).

You can provide your entry either as a pixel or vector design.

For pixel designs we require:

PNG, JPG, or BMP files (PNG is preferred)
Maximum file size 10 MB
Largest width or length at least 4000 pixels
Designs with no background

For vector designs we require:

.ai or .svg files
Minimum size of 10x10 cm
Maximum size of 38x38 cm
Minimum diameter for lines or design details of 1.5 mm
Max. 3 colours, created separately on one layer
No colour gradients
Texts and forms converted into completely closed paths

Designers: get those creative juices flowing! Everyone else: get voting!

Great idea. I'd definitely like to know when the merch goes on sale as well and I also can't wait to see what the members here can produce for this competition. Good luck all.

Good catch! We will be selecting the five most popular designs and announcing the final round in early February. All designs must be submitted to this thread by Sunday 31 January at 11.59pm.

Not even a year of JrVip membership for the 5 that goes to the final round? Cheap, since it will be used "on our merchandise (think t-shirts, sweatshirts, caps, etc)".

Anyway, good luck out there guys, I´ll be voting only, since my graphic skills are not up for the task .. =)

I am not a designer so excuse the mediocre effort, just a couple of ideas that I had specifically for t-shirt designs. I think it would be cool incorporating member usernames and avatars into a design but I couldn't quite get what was in my mind down on paper.

I am waiting for some of blackhatworlds best designers to get involved though. @NitroCan @yachi @PhotoshopDesign

PS I know these designs aren't neccesarily 2020 specific either. But I don't have the design skills for that either.

@Visual Eagle hope you don’t mind me tagging you as well. Just because I know you’ve got the design skills.

Honestly if I was a designer I’d be jumping straight on this, great opportunity for some free marketing and a showcase of your work.

To that point, if there are some fresh designs for the bhw mercy I’d love to buy some of it; it’s been talked about lots over the years and eagerly awaited by many. I always liked the idea of having some well designed merch to wear out and about, in case I cross paths with any other bhw’ers and would otherwise be none the wiser.

No problem, mainly done that in the hopes of spurring on some other designers but my daughter is actually super hyped up about her submission and she keeps asking me for an update on the competition outcome

On a side note, I didn’t see it specifically mentioned in the OP, but will there be any official recognition posted here, or more importantly the shop itself, stating the designer(s)? Just thinking that would be an additional incentive for designers to get involved with this competition.
