$2000/mo Membership Site Using Offline Marketing

never try offline methods.... this is my first time heard bout it :) still needs a lot to learn :p

This is great information. I'll be looking to start this on my own!

I was a navy recruiter for 4 years and the hardest part of it was rejection, you have to learn to ignore it. It is a numbers game the more people you can get your information to the more sign-ups you will have.

I had set up an offline membership site, but unfortunately, I let it go by the wayside. Serious family and personal issues. I really want to resurrect my site because this can be a profitable business model.

Wonderful sharing. Like to try it out.

what kind of payment gateway you use to charge them monthly?

I'm planning my first city web site now. Can anyone post successes here?

I'm wondering how many subscribers you've gotten and and how long it took.

I'm thinking on using the display ads idea instead of business cards.

I am looking for the same. This would be appreciated.

What keyword phrases are you guys targeting? I've been researching various phrases but it seems too long to use something like
newyorklearntoworkfromhome.com

Any thoughts or ideas for shorter phrases that are effective?

Thanks

Hello

I'll try to answer some of your questions. As to experience level you should know this in advance. Your website should be set up for a specific market niche. I personally targeted those with little to no experience with the Internet. People who only used the Internet to download email, search for recipes, use MySpace, look at YouTube, etc...

As far as marketing or starting an Internet business they know ZILCH. Which makes them the perfect client/member for you. Because they're open to what you have to teach them and there's nothing for them to unlearn.

I start all of my members with the very basics. I first review what a website is and what it can do for them. Give them a taste of affiliate marketing. Then I start teaching them the real basics. How to choose a domain name, hosting service, ftp, setting up a blog, etc... Once they mastered that then I go on to teach them more advance things. It's a step-by-step progressive system.

Think sales funnel...

Taking your advice and running with it, I have a guy who does professional Camtasia videos for me for $29/month, and has a list of videos that are already completed with affiliate offers right in the video. All I have to do is make sure that the day the video unlocks, that 2 emails go out that day, both saying that the new video or set of videos are ready, and that they will need the software in the video to continue their "training". Redirects are managed by WP pretty links so they never show up. He also forwards me the script for the video, along with the camproj, swf, mov, and mp4 files.

Personally, I'm using Wp Wishlist, Aweber, and Optimizepress for this, because of all the options it offers me. Haven't hit a snag yet, just waiting for cards to come in for dirt cheap. Sign up for an account on 4over and get approval, and you'll have a TON of printing and marketing options, with printing plants all over the US.

Networking or JVing for this is easy, I've given the cards to friends, clients, local business owners (small town of 50k, most are commuters or know each other), bands going on tour...that sort of thing.

Thinking about getting the larger club flyers printed with website info and stuff on it and giving the box to my friend who is going to Bamboozle and having her put them on cars for me, possibly all 3 days. Easy marketing at the Meadowlands, affordable for the age range there who are sick of their jobs (late teens - late twenties), and chances are, they've packed out their minivans with friends who might want a shot too.

Opportunity doesn't knock, it beats down your door and screams for you to embrace it, like your psycho ex. :loco: You can let it sit there waiting, or you can make it happen.

This isn't as hard as it seems, guys. Like you always hear on the forums, ACTION is the first step. There's no ripple effect if you don't throw a few small stones to test the waters. :D

One thing I learned early was to never underestimate a good business card placement.

Gas stations, laundromats, barbershops, diners...wherever. At the end of the day its only more exposure and come tax time you can write off the mileage.

This has worked very well for me over the past few months.

Here is another spin for you to think about...

If you go to your local unemployment office you can post a flier on their bulletin board. Talk with whoever is in charge and let them know about what you do and they are usually eager to allow you to do this.

I have also had some luck with working with temp agencies in my area. There are some people that just cant get a "normal" job for whatever reason and if you are distributing your information where people are actively seeking employment you can have some pretty good luck with sign ups.

One more that I have had great success with is the local classifieds in the help wanted section. These are pretty inexpensive if you buy in bulk say for 3 months or so.

I have found that if you run your business as a business, you have much better success. If you are serious about making money online you have to stop treating it like a hobby.

Hope this helps somebody....
Excellent shit here.

Wow Reading through some of the post is amazing. I just wanted to put my two cents in, Just do it. I'm currently doing this method using affiliate membership site. I printed up some flyers post them at the library, at apartment complex on board where they come and pick up their mail, and I also just leave cards behind where ever I go. Just do it! And you will get some sales. Remember some will, some want, and some waiting. Marketing 101....
