Edu links are good to have for almost all niches but also make sure the page where your link going to be placed have relevant content. That would help.

Ranking with mentioned keywords there is no trick as you are talking about ranking for each single all internal links (posts). Just keep it consistent and use the target keywords in all your posts. The market is big and high with competition.

1. Do not pay for .edu links, they are useless, especially for your project.
2. Online movie streaming it's an extremely tough niche to crack, unless you do a non-English version (for your local market). I see two ways to go for you:
2.1. Either have movies nobody else does (very new movies for example)
2.2. Try to build your brand in a different way (on social media, etc. once you get brand recognition and lot of direct traffic to your site, your positions in Google will improve all across the board (for all your keywords). This is becasue direct traffic is a huge thing in the algorithm...
