I would like to have your advice.

I have a site ranked at #2 on Google, for a keyword that has 2,640,000 competition and 110,000 searches/month and I receive only 50 visits a day.

What's wrong ? how can I improve my visits ?

thanks in advance for your help.

that is totally weird you have a website with that alot of competition and That many searches and you don't recieve much users ;

My personal belief is that .there is a word called Country Rankings.

If the search engine in your country is displaying it on 2nd number against a keyword /phrase.

In probably Other countries google SE. You may be ranked 8. Maybe you are ranked 50 that normally doesnt happen. But

You should definitely give it a try mate.

lets suppose you use google australia.: you rank second there

from google.com.au

Use google insights for search where the keyword has most search volume.

Use the SE of that country .

Lets suppose your phrase is highly searched in Pakistan. Go to google.com.pk and search that keyword.

My belief again is thats probably because difference in country SE Spots.

Its not even debatable.

1) You don't really rank. Some tips/ideas already above. Use a fresh browser session with no G cookies or login, check from different countries. Use proxy, etc.

2) The traffic estimate is wrong. The searches simply aren't there. Do your kw research with more than just GKT.

3) Your title/desc are poor. Nobody wants to click it.

Or a combination of the above.

If you are using gmail or whatever google service, they will remember the site you click many times. After doing that it will rank high for you searching for that keyword, but for the rest of the world you are probably not on place 2.

should also make sure you looking on "exact" when finding out how many searches it has. Thats what matters, and that number can drop big time on exact.

there is something called keyword research do some on page seo

and also try to rank for similar keywords

Different countries different rankings. Make sure you're checking google.com and not any other google. (unless you're targeting another country)

Also make sure that you Title and Description are compelling.

If its boring and with no catch line then why would they click it over the rest?

Lots of good advice lets put them in order.

1. First check and see if you are really #2. Check from another computer or browser that you have not clicked on your link from Google in the past.

2. Check and make sure that your number of searches is correct. How did you get that number? Is it broad or exact? If broad you need to get the exact number as that is really the one where people are searching for your site.

3. Look at the description of your site that shows up in Google. Does it match the search? If you were searching for that term and read the description would you want to click on the site? If not then fix it.

4. Make sure that when they click on your content that it also matches the site. No since in getting people to your site if they are going to bounce off of it.

5. Figure out what you need to do to get to #1 and do it. You will get a lot more clicks at #1 if your description matches the search term correctly.

If you want to check and dont want to remove all the cookies etc, just start a private session with Firefox and you will exactly know on what place you are.

You should check adwords tool for exact search. For 110k searches you might well just find 10k for exact. Then what you are getting would be just right, ie 1.5k a month.

Stop believing that just because your ranked on the first page or #1 of any given search term that you will receive server crashing traffic. If you have great content and on the second page you can receive great traffic. Don't over emphasize the importance of ranking, and pay more attention to your content. If you have great content, people WILL find your site.

Tip #2
Viralize your site, meaning create content that will persuade people to share thus bringing more traffic. There are a gazllion ways to do this. One could be to share an ebook with links to your site in it. Or more advanced would be to use plugins that require people to share the content before viewing it.

Getting #1 Rankings is only Half the battle my friend.

I have a post that is ranked #1 for About 54,500,000 results (0.28 seconds) and the traffic I receive is decent, nothing to go punch my boss in the face over.

Mates,

Thanks for all advices, but :

- I checked in another computer and on mine using Firefox private navigation - still #2
- the total exact searches are 8,100
- I don't get visitors, so they could not know if my content is boring, as spollacs said. And my title is catching with dalily news related to the theme (theme is soccer)
- I live in Brazil, so I use google dot com dot br, that's my local search
- there is no avaiables tools for research other than GKT
- trying to go to #1
- onpage seo done. backlinks made some but still doing
- content is good

Any other idea ?

my best regards
Sigma

Sounds more like it.

Start looking for additional keywords to target. Branch out with a wider view on your niche.

I have the same problem.

I use Google Keyword Tool. I set the location and language that i'm targetting.
- Monthly Local Exact Searches: 246.000

With the Google Webmaster Tool i set the Geographic target to that location i'm targetting. This really boosts your rankings.

I check google and use the google site of that location, and i see my site is at the third position.

Results: 0 visitors. Lol
