anyone have experience with 1and1 hosting?

I have a WP site with them and all my page links in main menu go straight to 404 error when clicked

anyone know how to remedy this?

Get better hosting :D

Seriously one and one sucks, I dont like to bash the competition but they make it too easy, shoot me a PM I will help you get setup with proper hosting, and fix all of your 404 problems

Or add me on skype

Gutted.Re-built from scratch.works fine (for now)

moving as soon as contract expires

I hate to pile on or beat a dead horse, but I absolutely loathe 1&1. In general. On every level. They are one of the absolute shittiest companies to work with. Everything they "offer" is actually just a turd wrapped in gift paper. I seriously don't understand how they stay in business with their horrible customer service, byzantine billing and account management practices, and pathetic reputation.

And I appreciate what Peter says about not liking to bash "competition", that's a great attitude in general, but a) what he says is spot on - 1&1 sucks, and fatboy's addition that they both suck and blow at the same time sums it up nicely; and b) I've used hostwinds as one of my hosting services for awhile and been quite pleased. Peter and his team are very responsive and helpful, as opposed to 1&1 who I believe are staffed by some sort of weasel-like creatures who have been trained to use computers.

having worked for a 1&1 sister company I also agree, get better hosting lol

In regards to the OP problem sounds like a htaccess/permalinks problem

Honestly, I don't know how 1and1 stays in business with that archaic billing system. You place an order and they bill you?

And depending on when you place the order you might not see the actual bill for almost twenty days and in some instances even more.

So let's say you ordered domain names from them and OCT 29th, which is apparently after their billing cycle kicks in. You won't see the bill until around the end of NOV.

In the mean time, it usually takes about a week for your domain names to become active in the 1and1 control panel. Until that point, you can't do a thing with your domains. No DNS changes. NO SOA changes, NADA! And don't even try contacting them to push things through. That action will be a waste of time.

P.S. Some of you fast thinkers can see the loophole in their billing system, LOL! Hint, Hint. :D Just wait until they offer super cheap deals on .com domains.

As others have stated, their hosting is the same. It is so bad, I wouldn't even put low traffic Private BL network sites on them.

I have seen a lot of reviews for them recently and all people have to say only bad things about this provider.I suggest you to leave such as others told you.
