[1000th POST SPECIAL] The Ultimate Shopify Guide to Making $100/Day! (PART 2)

upload_2017-1-6_21-12-56-png.85989

I made $50 from FB Ads that day, the rest was from IG.

So basically for Instagram you followed your own guide that you had posted?
This is sweet. Thanks a lot

I put in $15 on my first day and made $170 back lmao. Your own eComm store is definitely a great idea. I prefer that over a Amazon niche store. And I'm a dropshipping newb too, so to say. You won't see stats like these with an Amazon niche site immediately.

My first week into Dropshipping and I've already hit $700+. One customer asked a refund as she used the wrong card to make a payment. Smh.

There's something a Guest Checkout. That option shows up if you have PayPal express checkout enabled for the store. That's what I use.
Where are you finding shout-outs... noone I contacted is willing to replay to my messages lol

For anyone who hasn't read the first guide, please read that one first as this is a continuation of the previous thread here -

Facebook Advertising For Shopify 101

In the previous thread I didn't go that deep into Facebook advertising but in this one I will explain everything in details and give some amazing pointers to really kill it with Fb ads. Okay first thing I said was using the audience insight tool and getting the audience. I have explained it in a bit more details in the "Advanced targeting" video so make sure to watch it. Before you go about finding your audience here are some things to keep in mind women buy more than men (depends on the niche of course), age group should always be above 21+. You need to go in depth with the targeting because you have to understand that you have to find highly passionate audiences in your niche who are buyers.

Next up is creating your ads. Like I said in the previous thread you should go for conversion ads but bear in mind that it's not the only type of ads that bring in sales. I will explain in a bit. But first for the conversion ads or facebook ads in general you have to understand that Facebook takes time in optimizing your ads. So in the beginning you WILL lose money and that's perfectly fine. I will give you a rough summary below that you should follow to know when to scale/kill your ads. I have explained this in more details in the videos. Once you create your audience remember don't go too broad with the targeting. Drill down to a point where your target audience is around 200k - 400k or somewhere around there. From the last thread I have seen a lot of you are just getting started with Fb ads so set your daily spend limit to $5 - $7 as $20 is a bit too much if you don't have a huge spending budget like me.

Besides conversion ads you can also do Post Engagement ads which are PPE ads and I know a lot of people will say that for Shopify/Ecom conversion ads are the best way to go and yes they are but don't underestimate the power of PPE ads. Why? If you can create ads the right away these can go viral and get you insane amounts of traffic and sales. Let me give you an example I ran an ad that was a video and the video got a huge amount of engagement and sorta went viral. There was a product being used in the video and I put that up on my store and at the end of the description of the ad I said If you want to get the "product" click here - link. Now yes Shopify is great for to get started with the free+shipping but once you get a good idea of everything you have to run ads for full priced products. That product was priced at $29.99 on my store and I was outsourcing it for around $8 including shipping as I was paying extra for shipping and I got tons of sales at the full price. So the possibilities are endless.

When to scale an ad -

◦Creating Your Ad
◦Conversion
◦Cost> $5 = Continue to run the ad for 3 – 4 days.
◦Conversion cost still high? Breakdown the interests and age group
◦Cost < $5 = Breakdown age groups ( 21 – 34) (35 – 45) (46 – 55)
◦Breakdown your interests into sets.
◦Increase your ad budget slowly.

When to kill an ad -

◦No conversion
◦CTR > 5%
◦Run the ad for 3-4 days on a $5 to $7 daily budget.
◦Still no conversion? Your product is not targeted enough or interest group are not buyers.
◦CTR <5%
◦Kill the ad right away.

Things to keep in mind when running Facebook ads. Testing is everything. I can't assess this enough. You may lose money on a few campaigns but you need only ONE winning campaign to make that money tenfold.

when creating FB ads for testing, what CPC are you willing to go up to for the $5-10 test? Does FaceBook decide for you? Or do you set it at 5 cents, 10 cents, or something else??

those paypal limits killing me, i wrote email to them about two weeks ago, also send my documents but no respond from them feelsbadman

Anyone know how to edit multiple weights of variants on Shopify?

Yes. I had that problem too.

Products -> select all products -> edit products -> add fields

Then unselect some fields that are not necessary and add weight.

I can't figure out how to edit my previous post so I'll just make another one and add another question you can hopefully answer. Are you basically recommending that when we start promoting a particular product, we start out with 1 ad initially, let it run for 3-5 days at a $7-$10 daily budget and then split it into multiple "narrower" ads?

Hello you lot! Just finished the course on Udemy--awesome stuff by the way-- also just started my first ad will update how it goes. Quick Q&A do you create ads on other products say for the other keychains necklaces and such if so how do you narrow down your target audience

Also for other fellas put up links to your stores and pages want to compare notes and feed back. That is my store no custom domain so be sure to add the platform name at the end and the Facebook page is also the same without the store platform name.
Not allowed to post links yet! Noob!

Wouldn't it be better if I used a video instead of a picture as my Facebook post which I advertise? Couple seconds of nice animation of the product I'm selling with information text.

Yes, I did suggest to try video ads.

omg frustrated with this shit credit card provider, 2checkout... How did you guys finished that part to accept credit cards in your store? They want my photo ID to upload? Also want me to chose their refund policy, or upload mine on the site?

Yeah 2CO is pretty strict with those things.

Opened the store yesterday, started a campaign with 10$ daily a few hours ago and already made a sale :) Maybe just luck, let's see..

It must be a problem to be promoting these products with a Facebook page with almost no fans. How do you handle this problem?

Thanks!

It doesn't matter if you have no fans as long as your ad copy is good.

In my country, I have to grant 2 years warranty. And I somehow think that most of the aliexpress products won't survive 48 months? So every negative review makes me insecure.

I would suggest going for three primary countries (US, Canada, UK).

I've followed the entire video series, and it was very informative, so thank you very much! Now It may sound stupid of me to question, but I started using Oberlo immediately to add products, and I quickly built up a 100+ item catalog of items that could be sold on my store easily, will I have to manually go and find the item on Aliexpress once an item sells and buy it for my customer? or will Oberlo keep track of where it came from and take me there? Once I add an item into my store, Oberlo no longer holds the links to Aliexpress for me, so i'm worried

also is there anyway i can prevent someone from buying an item once its stock on aliexpress goes below 100? in order to save time with cancelling and emailing with customers after the fact because it went out of stock in the 3 days I waited for their money to clear?

I haven't gone live on my site yet because I'm trying to make it look as professional as possible before starting and spending the money on the ads. But I Can't find an easier way other than manually adding each item in, one by one, and modifying the price and description manually

Thank you again!

You can order directly from Oberlo once an order comes in. Yes, Oberlo does the tracking for you too.

Just to clarify: the Facebook scaling occurs about 3-5 days after you first created the ad? Meaning, if after 3-5 days there are no conversions but the CTR is >5%, you wait 3-4 more days on top of the initial 3-5 days?

Yes, that's correct.

Ì am tapping out the shopify thing, it has way, waaay, waaaaaaaayyyyyy too many restrictions on design and monetization...
Even putting up a background image is a fucking hassle in code most people don't know shit about.

Back to good old wordpress...

You can do the same thing with WooCommerce if you want.

when creating FB ads for testing, what CPC are you willing to go up to for the $5-10 test? Does FaceBook decide for you? Or do you set it at 5 cents, 10 cents, or something else??

Depends on the audience I am targeting. Sometimes I try different bids and save it as soon as I start getting clicks and other times I let Facebook decide.

You can do it when you are adding products. There is an option around the adding image section.

Yes, if its converting. If not kill it based on the chart.

Yes you need to test out several products in different ads.

I didn't use shoutouts. I used my own follow-unfollow method I used for CPA and that got me sales. Instagram traffic is dope.

Select all variants using the checkbox > Edit Variants . You'll be taken to the bulk editor and the weight tab is usually disabled so click on "Add Field" and then click on "Weight".
upload_2017-1-7_8-25-12.png

The weight column should show. Then click on the first row in the weight column and hold SHIFT, use your down arrow key to go all the way to the last row (select all rows basically). Add a weight to the last row and all of them should get the same weights.

Cheers man :)

Guys I got 1 question ; I made my first 2 sales yesterday, received the money and all (1 on paypal the other on stripe) and with Oberlo I clicked on "confirm the payment" and "mark as shipped". Does that mean Oberlo did actually buy that item on Aliexpress and shipped to the buyers automatically ? Or do I have to do something ? I don't want them to not receive what they ordered, so.. Appreciate any help.

I think you must finish the order manually, only in oberlo beta it is fully automatic, but it is still beta version.

Should I buy .com domain right from the get go or is it fine with xxx.myshopify.com for starters?

Did the money go through from your card to Ali? If not you will have to complete the order.

Thinking to buy ads on reddit what do you think

Give it a go.

Should I buy .com domain right from the get go or is it fine with xxx.myshopify.com for starters?

It's up to you. You can go either way.

I would suggest going for three primary countries (US, Canada, UK).

Nah, you misunderstand. In my country, I'm forced to grant 2 years warranty. No matter to which country I sell. If it breaks after 729 days, I have to replace/repair/refund it.

I know an other great way to find hot products in your niche.
First, like Nihalsad said type in "site:myshopify.com keyword" on google
Then, open some store and add "/collections/all?sort_by=best-selling" to the domain name, it will show all the best sellers of the store :)
