1 Viral Video, Losing subscribers after

I went "viral" in February with a video that now has around 80k views, gets around 500 views a day, and got me, 1600 subscribers (sports niche), since then I have continued to make content that is similar to the viral video along with other types of daily content.

However, on all my new videos I get around only 10-30 views and I have been losing around 1-10 subscribers a day and now am at 1300. Is there anything I should be doing to increase my reach? I make daily content similar to the piece of content that went viral but after one watches my viral video they seem to not get recommend any of my other content according to the Youtube Studio analytics.

Curious what the BHW family has to share about their experiences going Viral and what happened after.

buy views and watchtime from the the market.
and don't post often with 1600 subs you should only put some good videos that have the potential to get big on the channel, and are "unique".
youtube don't promote a channel with much videos and no views.

try to find viral content (or find place to post&go viral like reddit) you need to foucus what your subscribers want to see at most, check which piece of your content is best watching and go with it

[EDIT] you can boost your videos with some high retention views at the begining, sure

I would keep producing quality until you get another hit. Do not give up Youtube as you know is a funny platform.

Agree on this 100%. Don't give up on YouTube unless your content is just trash.

More than ever, YouTube requires an unreal grind to be successful. Most just don't understand the thousands of hours it takes to get traction these days.

You are doing it right though by staying in the same niche. Lots of channels go all over the place with what their content is. If you do that, just start a new channel for a second niche.

Losing subs is actually more normal than you might think. Even the big channels lose subs daily, they just get enough traffic from their entire catalog and new videos that they finish every day with a net positive number of daily subs.

People are constantly cleaning their sub lists and focusing on channels they really like.

In reality, sub numbers don't matter nearly as much as they did, unless to unlock account features like memberships, etc. What matters more than anything by a factor of 10 is CTR (thumbnails and headlines) and Watch-Time. Those are your metrics to focus on. You need a good symbiotic relationship between those two. Don't get click-baity otherwise your retention will suffer. You need to be just click-baity enough that explains the content but gets people to click and retain them.

But yeah, it is annoying to see losses in subs, better to see an increase. That will come if you keep grinding it with good content.

Use VidIQ if you haven't already to optimize your channel.

80k views is not 'viral' however keep going. not every video will get views. title and thumbnails matter much.
