hello,
i have a web page which is #no1 for the main keyword since March, however page rank is still 0, and the page is 9 months old. I have not used and black hat methods to promote it since i am not experienced and i was afraid i might do something wrong and ruin everything. After alot of reading here on BHW i think i now feel comfortable enough to start some manual backlinks, any suggestions where should i start?
I have already read about general rules, for instance not use the same anchor text, use 30% nacked urls, comment on relative web pages etc. i was wondering if there is a more specific advice about that before i begin.
Thank you!

if you are in pos 1 anyhow just keep it easy with buliding links there.
if you do manual and very the anchor you cant do anything wrong.

PR is not all about ranks.

PR have consist of different signals like links, social links, content quality, and more.

And google updates PR every 3 months (not sure)

page rank has nothing to do with your position in google. these two factors are indeed influenced by backlinks but they are independent one from another.

Building backlinks slowly makes sense, but don't focus on your PR; it's not important in the grand scheme of things. Being #1 is what's important, and there are many sites in many niches without PR which bank hard. You're right to be careful not to endanger your ranking, so go slowly and good luck :)

Like others have already said... why the hell are you worried about the page's PR? Your #1 for main keyword. Congratulations! Pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Maybe build a few manual links every now and then to keep the rank, but an increase in PR is not going to bring you any new traffic.... so why risk slap/penalty on high ranking page? PR doesn't get you new visitors, it doesn't get you more $$$, its only value maybe is using it as a link for another page you want to boost. Sit back, enjoy the traffic, and move onto ranking more pages!

If you rank you just shall not worry as Rank is what Banks :cool:

I'd slowly try and rank secondary, and long tail KWs - just don't do anything to screw your main KW.

Adding content to your site will not hinder.

LakeDaimon, congratulations.

You ranked #1 without PR, many others rely on that but YOU didn't. Backlink every now and then for sh!ts and giggles, if that's your thing.

If your rank is #1,then enjoy it,don't tension about your pr.If you have need high page rank for your domain, then just make some relevant ******** pr4+ link, social bookmarking, add your site web directories,Google change pr a couple time of a year.So if you do some good link then you can increase your page rank after 6 month.

Your positions on Search Engine does not reflect your PR. Many websites out there does not have PR but rank well on search engines.

If you want high PR, add contents consistently to your website and spread your website across social networking like FB, G+, Twitter, etc.

well mate, PR have not been updated yet... so maybe you will get PR 1 at next announcements. but still, don't worry about your PR, stay focused on your keyword and enjoy #1.
page rank is about passing juice to other pages, its not relevant with SERP.
Anyway if u want Page Rank, then make some blog and test sh*t on it, if it gets any PR then you link your main page, if it gets f***ed then you have nothing to worry, your money page is safe.
good luck and enjoy your #1.
Leobar.

Google updates PR constantly BUT they only update the PR toolbar (what WE can see) about every 3 months or so.

As far as building links to your site, I would check the backlink portfolios of the other sites ranking organically on page one and see what kind of link building they are doing. 1) it can point out some potential and relevant linking opps and 2) it can show you the qty and quality of the links they are getting. If you come out of nowhere and surpass your competitors with a bunch of links...it can raise a flag if that vertical does not normally have that kind of link velocity.

Congrats on pos #1 and good luck as you grow! :)
