So i was #1 for three weeks enjoyed a great amount of sales and now im #4. The method I used to acheive #1 position was a combo of article marketing , some web 2.0s, and a whole lot of profile links. I also analyzed everyone on the front page of the keyword but now im at #4 and wanting to return back to that number one spot any other suggestions than what I listed? Kind of frustrating too because it took me 8 months to get to number 1 and all other keyword rankings dropped too

You should take all those backlinks you created and build backlinks to them... that will increase the link juice that your site is getting.

i actually have been doing that with most of the articles and web 2.0s and im starting to think that google is discounting my profile links since they are a majority of my links although not all of them are indexed....i have not built links to my profile links however

You'll want to do that for your profile links for sure and pop some more Web 2.0s and articles out there as well.

My thoughts are that the profile links will have a similar fate to the socialbookmarking. The main issue even with for the .edu is that
there is no "movement" in the accounts.

After awhile, it hard to give credit to a property when there is no contribution (content) to the community in a whole.
Especially when it's a known fact by the search engines that such profiles and social bookmarks can be effectively automated.

i agree although I have ranked sites purely with profile links however they were not very high competition and rankigns have dropped down to #3 for that site with 40 profile links and 2.7 million competing sites i just wonder what's the next thing that we can spam and automate to increase our SERPS/BACKLINKS although I will go ahead and try to diversify my IPs

If you were making good money as you say, Go ahaed and "buy" a PR8 backlink for 6 months. there are quite good offers now, and you have to consider that if it is a PR8 website needs to have more than 20k indexed pages by G.

I think this is due to the recent PR update of google might me but not sure...anyway try to increase your backlinks so that you can go to the top spot once again and there will be an increase in your sales......

any place you know I can find this kind of backlink from?

Typical beginning site surge, happens alot

beginning site surge this is a two year old site

I kind of agree with you here I just recently got a PR update myself seems like I'll try and find HIGH PR backlinks

I was in your same situation, more or less, my main website was ranking at n.3 in G. for its main keyword last year, then suddenly, went down to n.10. I started doing just two things:
- i used a social bookmarking service here to put my website to over 150 high authority sites
- i started building a few backlinks every day by blog commenting in high PR sites. No matter if do-f or no-f.
Well, after a month, my backlinks more than doubled, and now I'm happy to say (cross my fingers) that my website is at n.1
I believe it doesn't take a huge work or spend a lot of money in SEO services, unless you are in an extra-competitive niche. Backlinks, at least for me, did the trick.
Good luck!

Also you could check your competitor's back links and see if you can get any links from those sites.

lol yup how'd you think i got to number one i guess i'll just dissect some more

I didn't read the whole topic, but from what it seems you can solve the problem by:
1.) Get links from new IPs, so do not try to get backlinks from same IP [especially the same domain]
2.) Get links from varied platforms. Do not stick to jsut profile links, or blog links or article links. The more you mix it up, the better chances you have to get #1 again.
3.) Outbound link value diminishes as the number of links increase from the same domain.
4.) You can also try adding some fresh content to your site, sometimes google deranks your site because it no longer updates as frequently.

I hope I made sense.
EDIT: Also try to get all your backlinks indexed if they are not.

Thanks yeah I am going to go ahead and look into diversifying my IP's i have a choice of 400 different IP with PR 0 or 33 PR5-6 different IPs guessing I should go for the later.....or should i do both?

also make note this is an ecommerce site the only way to add new content is adding new product
