Recently, I came across a few threads about how ORM got 'quiet'. The truth is, the infamous 7878 already outlined in proven concept that you can apply to different industries. It is flexible and scalable. I don't knwo what else you guys need to know. Some of you came across it in 2011, and still waiting/too lazy to execute today (2015)!

Folks, if you put some time and efforts into it, you will very very likely succeed and see a positive ROI. If you are creative and apply a 'twist' to it, you can probably make a good living and scale up from there (like I did). On my old 2013 journey thread, I also outlined the cost of this method can be excuted less than $100, so just landing ONE client will put you in profit for at a couple months.

    Laser Targeted Leads/Prospects
So here it is, another approach I've been working on past few months to land bigger clients. First of all, if you don't have any ORM experience, then this guide might not be for you. This guide will show you how to find 'laser targeted + high paying ORM leads', that can result in 5-figures contract.

Tripadvisor is not new to anyone here, but only a handful amount of people knows that it is actually an ORM goldmine!

As we all know, Tripadvisor focus heavily on hospitality industry, which usually means medium and big businesses (not your typical mom-and-pop shops). Online customer reviews are extremely critical to them. I would say 8 out of 10 travellers READ reviews of the motel/inn/hotel before booking their stay. If you think about it, YOU, yourself probably will checkout reviews before you book a room and spend a night there.

These hotel management knows. Proof? Majority of restuarant owners aren't too active with reviews much, but that's not the case with hotels. Most hotel managers are very active and reply to reviews no matter if it's positive or negative. They care! and most of all, they have the $$$ budget. This makes them a good qualified prospects and make our time worth it to reach out to them.

So let's dive right into action!

    1. Go on Google, and use the following search string

    Code:
site:tripadvisor.com "responded to this review" "your-city"
*Replace your-city with your city name.. of course*

Then activate filter > Search Tools > Past week.

    2. Go through the search results, you will see businesses with LOW ratings/poor reviews, MANAGERS who replied to the reviews past week.

    3. AH-HA! Those are the businesses we want to target, so click into the result for more info.

You will then know the name of the staff/manager who is responsible for the reviews/online reputation management etc.

So now, you know who to pitch to on your letter! No more cold mailing!

    4. Go to their website and find their address. Since they are corporations (not tiny mom-and-pops business), you know they are still active and in business!

    5. Since they have such low ratings, they must have a lot more negative reviews. So go thru their reviews on Tripadvisor or even other review platforms.

Do the 7878 mailing method, and pitch them your solution (reviews funnel).

    6. And this is an example of review funnel you can pitch.

*** Of course, most of these corporations have MULTI locations INTERNATIONALLY. So each contract can be 6-figures or more.

I feel like I am too late to the game.
So suppose you take action today (Nov 2015), and you try your best to close only ONE client (mom and pops business or SMB) per month at $400 (very very low price), you can make a minimum of $4800 per month (recurring and continue to scale) easily. Not to mention once they became your client, you can upsell your other services such as web development, SEO, email marketing and more. And if you close 2-3 clients per month (realistically possible - a lot of agencies do this), GOOD FOR YOU. You are on fast track to create a mega 5-figures recurring business-model.

I don't about you guys but 5-figures per month passive income sounds like a good start to me, much better than playing catch with SEO algor changes, bidding war on PPC etc.

The following table should give you a general idea how much you can make (even if you are a stupid lazy f*ck)

Woah! OriginalPoster, is it that simple?
Look around. There are a lot of boring and simple businesses in your neighborhood and they are still banking hard. It's not about how complex the business model is, it's about a 'system' that works and what you can bring on the table.

Good luck folks! For those who are interested on my success/journey thread back in 2013, here is the link:

Here is another useful thread that I believe will help you with closing sale in the meeting:

This has to be done with sending in physical papers?
What are the clients paying recurring for? Assuming some business with haggle about paying one time fee on bumping their negative reviews down.

For my clients, they are paying for a solution to increase reviews count and improve their online reputation. They get to use my platform for reviews filtering, notifications and more. Most of the time, I also upsell my clients some of my other services such as Wordpress support and maintenance, PPC and more. It really depends on the client needs.

The whole idea here is to reach out to prospects with huge budgets (get your foot in the door aka. FITD), how you sell and how you close is up to you.

To be frank, I fail to see what resources you need.

    1. You can simply follow my execution (from 2013). I outlined step by step on what you need (even the stationeries).
    2. The entire execution require mostly 'time' and less than $100 investment (for stamps). So it is very newbie friendly - very minimum investment needed
    3. Once you closed the deal, you can sign up for a reviews funnel service, or even make your own (if you are tight on budget).

Everything you need to know should be in the ORM section on BHW. Hope it helps!

I also want to mentioned that by the 2nd or 3rd month (once you landed 2-3 clients, making profits), you should consider hiring part-time university/college students doing the boring 'letter mailing' tasks for you. It's so straight forward and simple that you can literally turn it into a an automated 'system'.

    What I suggest is:

    1. Hire a VA to research (1-2 days per week; and him/her to find potential prospects)
    2. Have everything printed out, pass it on to a part-time university/college student who can write
    3. Have them fold, put them in envelope and mail them out (no more than 2 hours for this)

Boom! This will be your '2 hours work week' lifestyle :) (excluding the time spent on closing deals and meetings, of course - but I am sure you wouldn't mind those!)

If you do this every week, I will be very very surprised if you aren't profitable.

I think a lot of people are missing the 'offline marketing' approach. This method is a 'hybrid' of online and offline.

Thanks for sharing this. Old method but you put it down on the screen easily for others to learn.

Correct. The concept stays the same and remain solid after 4 years.

    The guide applied a slight twist to it, to reach out to businesses that are;

    1. Still alive
    2. Big corps (and have budget)
    3. Addressing to a manager that knows about the importance of ORM/Reviews
    4. Addressing to someone who manages the above (so it's not cold 'mailing')
    5. In an industry that ORM really matters

Correct. What I showed was just a basic projection.

In reality, you should be aiming to get more than 1 client a month anyways, and should be always trying to upsell and bring more value on the table.

So i wouldn't be surprised you beat the $4,800 estimate.

imo the math is a bit off regarding churn and scaling, but it is good motivational post for people on the fence. Its nice that OP tries to give back to the community.

I believe I see where the confusion is.

I forgot to mention I put all offline clients on 6-months contract. So I am not expecting a client to sign up and quit on the next month.

Each customer should at least bring in 6 months of revenue. That should give you the $ to grow.

Thanks a lot for the reminder. I even bought an ebook like 7 years ago on another forum and never executed on it... so sad, could have made already a fortune at that time :/
