1.7k Subs but only ~600 hours

Hello BHW, I need some help.

I like the content I make, which is coding and games. I have 1.7k subscribers but only ~620 watch hours which are slowly going away since my channel is 2 years old.
I get ~120 views a day since I have 2 videos that very slowly drip views, getting ~1-7 views an hour.

Since my channels niche is coding and games, what could I do to get more people to watch longer? I want to hit monetization but keep my niche
I could just make lots of videos that a few people watch for longer times, or make fewer videos that a lot of people view.
I am not a hyper, screaming or being loud all the time dude and I don't feel like doing that, nor all the crazy editing.

I use websites like RapidTags for my tags, and paste them into my descriptions as well. I usually make everything I use in my videos, but only recently started using royalty free products.
I also use chrome extensions like VidIQ & TubeBuddy but I don't know how much they're helping.
I do my own editing, SEO research, titles, and thumbnails and I'm not sure if it would be easier to get someone else to do it or continue it and just get better.
I would like to know of any better ways to find SEO, or what is trending or even what tags to use in my videos and what not just to help.

I've also been watching tons of videos about this stuff, what kind of editing keeps the viewer watching and what not but there isn't really much editing for my needs.
I will sometimes do news stuff, or whatever is trending, but mostly what I want to do.
I have seen things about posting on different social media sites, like instagram, facebook, tiktok, etc but im not sure how to get traction there to get traction on my channel.

I am just stuck and not sure what to do with my channel, I want to continue doing what I want but its barely getting traction for what I make and I want to get monetized for my content.
I don't want to do anything that fakes products, such as buying 4k watch hours since in a year I would need to buy them back.

Hmm... How many videos in total do your channel have?
 
You can create videos of you explaining certain stuff in a game engine, make tutorials, make a full game and walk your viewers through the whole process.
For social media, you can make an Instagram page and a Facebook page.
Go to some gaming Facebook groups and ask for advice/thoughts about your game/development process, and see what people would like to see.
Go to other developers' YouTube channels and see what they are doing, comment on their work, join groups, game dev contests.
Try and make connections with other devs/youtubers and ask for collabs.
 
You need a lot, I mean a lot more videos than just 2 videos on the channel. How can you expect to make it a killing with only 2 videos? Please do proper YT keyword reseach in your niche using VIDIQ tool, make at least 100 videos (and make it an ongoing thing), upload them with proper optimization, wait a few days and then, you will be ready to see some good traction.
 
You have to be consistent with uploads, do not rely only on 2 year old videos for views.
 
How many videos are you uploading on the channel per month currently ?
 
publish long tutorial content for coding explain it clearly with step by step

ex: complete python tutorial in 3 hours, making of snake game in python 30 to 60 mins

I have 170 videos posted publicly, I’ve been posting for 2 years on this channel now and I’m still getting only up to 100 views after a couple days. I also do research about the topics, and research on what to put in the descriptions and keywords. I also use tools (especially vidiq) to always get that 50/50 mark. But even after months of this, I’ve only seen progress in more search related and homepage recommendations which is good but my impressions are still huge with little clicks.

"impressions are still huge with little clicks" - You have some serious issues with your thumbnails and titles, trust me! Fix them! Make them more clickbaity and full of mystery.
 
Coding and games? Are you taking about video game development? Because otherwise, I can't really imagine a persona who'll enjoy both topics from the same channel. I assume you're confusing the algo.

I’ve recently been trying out new thumbnails and titles, instead of like (for example) “How to get (this)” I changed it to “How YOU can get (this) for FREE” and change the thumbnail to that would make you want to find out what it is

Games like minecraft I enjoy, especially the PVP aspect, but I’m also a developer and like to make tutorials on how to make things. I like making tutorials more but minecraft gets the views. Like, my most viewed coding video has 1.3k views but my most viewed videos are minecraft and are still getting views. I’m getting ~130 views a day from mostly 2 videos but collectively 5 videos, 3 being minecraft 2 being coding related

That's great, but it's hard to match an audience to your channel, and I guess that this is the reason your view time is lower than you want it to be.
 
Coding doesn't have a big audience.. entertainment does. If subs and views are your priority, you should probably focus more on your gaming videos.

Yea, coding is a bit boring for most but entertaining to me. I might just make a 2nd channel for it and continue my main with games and content that people watch most.

I agree, it’s just something I really enjoy and I try and make entertaining but it’s hard to do so. I might just stick with my original content since it works better and it’s still fun
 
Try making longer content and create better thumbnails to improve your CTR. If you can gain 1.7K subs you can easily hit the watch time mark if you focus on content.
 
Look at the videos which gave you the most of the watch hours and you will get an idea what content to post.
 
Take a stab at making longer happy and make better thumbnails to work on your CTR. In the event that you can acquire 1.7K subs you can undoubtedly raise a ruckus around town time mark in the event that you center around satisfied.
