1and1 has pretty bad reputation, so have that on your mind when registering domain there.

I've heard dodgey stuff about 1and1, thanks for sharing but I'll stick with GoDaddy.

key is to register domain at cheap promo offer, then
transfer to your other main account after 90 days, and then cancel account with e.g. 1 and 1
so there is no chance you will be rebilled, (i.e. stung hard with their 2nd year renewal costs)
