    In Amazon i used get 7% conversion rate.

    After the Amazon cut, i contacted the most reputed retailer in my niche and joined their affiliate program.

    They are super reputed in US. All the forums and in reddit, people recommend my retailer.

    But no one is buying anything from my link. Whereas on Amazon I'm getting good conversion rate.

    Yeah, this is actually why they are lowering their affiliate rates.

    So is my retailer. They're the largest and most popular one in my niche. They have the same price as Amazon. Free shipping, good customer support etc.

    Conversion rate is why Amazon is the king. If you can just direct people to Amazon there is a good chance that they will buy something. Even if your website is about TV's, they can end up buying 200 post it notes. You can't say that about any other website. Even if I were to redirect people to Nike, or Apple, or Pornhub, they wouldn't convert the same way.

    In my opinion, one of the biggest barriers to getting someone to buy on a website is having them enter their credit card information. This barrier isn't exclusive to trust, but also to the physical element of having to go and find their credit card. There are going to be so many distractions between them getting their credit cards and then coming back to purchasing the product. If they come back interested, they'll start second guessing if they want it that badly, if it's the best deal, if it's going to get here in time, and all of these other factors.

    Amazon completely removes that barrier and so many of those factors. Everyone already has their payment information stored. You make a couple of clicks and you have food, condoms, fishing supplies, video games, glasses, clothes, hand sanitizer, toilet paper and whatever else. People got there for a pair of shoes and end up buying a laptop in a few clicks, without even thinking about it. On top of convenience, most consumers compare the cost of products on other sites to that of Amazon.

    I saw a report the other day that said there in December 2019 there were 112 million Amazon Prime subscriptions. I imagine that the number of subscriptions is going to continue to increase. Everybody already knows about Amazon. Everybody already buys from Amazon. That is why they don't need us anymore. In fact, I'm a little surprised they haven't just ended the affiliate program all together.

    It's only a matter of time before they end the affiliate program altogether. But they would rather you go quietly,
    as it makes it a whole lot easier for them, from a PR perspective.

    On the French market, the second e-commerce CDiscount is improving the commission rates :
    - Home/Garden : 6% -> 8%
    - Video Games : 3% -> 5%
    - Games/Sport : 5% -> 8%

    I didn't expect that move but I am really happy they did it. I will try to promote them more and decrease my Amazon dependency. The only bad thing is you have to use Awin and I really dislike those ugly redirection links.
