    CPA - Marketing

Do you minimize the amount of colors used as well? I'm curious if you've split tested this against a banner that you paid a designer to create. I like the simplicity of the idea, its kind of like craigslist with the less is more strategy.

    Varying Google Rankings

Google results are different, depending on your location and many other factors. Here is an interesting TED video on the topic. http://www.ted.com/talks/eli_pariser_beware_online_filter_bubbles.html

2 x your keyword in a domain name

If the exact match domain is taken, I prefer to try add a hyphen between the words or add one additional word at the end. It could be a word that works for your niche, or you could look on the google keyword tool for additional ideas. For branding, I personally wouldn't add the same word twice...

Will it hurt to copy and paste articles?

If google has indexed the original article, it might devalue the page with duplicate content. Some sites have seen penalties after the Google Panda update, and were able to recover after removing 'low quality' content. I recommend writing original content if you can. You could use the ideas in...

    CPA - Marketing

If you feel that graphic design is not your specialty, you could hire someone to do the work for you. If you are low on budget, there is probably someone on fiverr that will crank something out for you.

    Google places negative review nightmare.

If I were in your position I would either; 1. Hire someone to post a bunch of reviews to push down the negative ones or 2. Send out an email to all existing customers offering a chance of winning one of your best products/services or some other product (iPad, etc) in exchange for writing a...

    Need Help Finding a Niche

There are many good threads here already on this topic. Here is one (it has two parts). http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/making-money/10224-niche-guide-intro-part-1-finding-niche.html...

Can content alone help in getting a page rank.

Sellers on sites like Flippa, etc have been known to pump up a fake PR and then sell before the PR drops. Not saying everyone does it, but I am curious as well to learn about other methods for identifying whether or not the PR is legit so that we can avoid such scams.

New Google Places Functionality? How did this get here?

I just tried out the 'author hreview' plugin and it didn't pass google's analysis. You can use Google's rich snippit testing tool (http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?url=&view=) and it will tell you whether or not a specific URL has implemented the html code correctly. Funny...

[REINEXED] Bringing a site back after it has been deindexed, part 2

I've been denied indexing on an aged domain that I purchased, without any previous knowledge that the domain had a problem. There were no archive.org listings or anything to hint a problem. Good to see some tips that might help.

New Google Places Functionality? How did this get here?

Yeah that's the author hreview plugin (uses rich snippits). If you have an existing google places ranking and this plugin setup correctly, you can get a double row of stars. Pretty cool, although I don't know how long it will last. There is also a plugin from a current WSO that does the same thing.

What do you use for newsletters?

Aweber, iContact, ConstantContact and many more. Aweber is very popular. You could also use interspire. If you setup a software on your own server, you could use smtp.com to make sure that the emails don't go to spam, but it is more work.

Results for my first clients, how to present them?

Ranktracker reports and other charts are great if the client is an analytical personality and likes to see a lot of data. If they are not too analytical (or doesn't have a lot of time), you could just show them one chart and keep it simple and to the point. The point is to upsell him, so focus...

How Three Germans are Copying Startups and Making Billions

That's a good point, they are providing value to the customers in the new markets who aren't able to take advantage of the new idea yet. The groupon copy in europe saved a lot of people money and promoted a lot of businesses, something that groupon wasn't able to offer at the time.

Is it better to use <b> or <strong>

I agree, one can't split test this with any sort of reliability. It isn't enough of a big deal in ranking, which is why I was saying that it makes no sense for Matt Cutts to lie about it. I should have added that the split testing would probably go nowhere, but I thought that was implied when I...
