Location DOES matter. Just pull up "atlanta" on maps and see where the city center is, then compare to the density of what appears in the map-box when you search "atlanta dentist"..... most of them will be condensed somewhat close to the city center. It's a mixture of "relevancy". Location...

A few guesses based on my past experience with GP.... -When setting up new sites back when it was pretty easy, every once and again it would randomly (seemingly) only give you postcard verify. So, if you only tried the method one time, *you could have gotten tripped up on that "random" 1 of 12...

Well, let's all keep trying! As you already know, old listings can still be edited without postcard verifying, but NEW listings are triggering only that. I hope google gets a shitstorm of complaints and ends this soon!

Seems like it would be difficult/impossible to target the city center for better rank. I find that, with the right keywords and setup, you can grab page 1 for competitive terms in big cities....but you must be near the city center. Or am I missing something? I can't see how all those listings...

That has happened to me on some "random" edits.... I was forced to just can the listing. It's a bummer.

For now, it seems that ALL new google places will require postcard verification. We're very close to a reasonable "work-around" for those needing to create places that can't be postcard verified. I'll let you know if it can be done. Until then, all we can do is wait. All signs seemingly...

Haven't been on in awhile, so I wanted to drop in and extend my gratitude to the BHW community, to whom without, this would not be possible. My recent success came from a variation of the Google maps method, which is seems has changed and now requires postcard verification (more on that later)...
