Bypassing Google places post card verification

I've been working hard trying to figure out how to bypass the post card verification and to get the phone option, yes Google apparently removed it a week ago but I was sniffing around and found a couple of unclaimed listings of businesses that....lets just say I know for a fact they're shady, with 1 of them I got the phone option the other only gave me the post card option, the two were in 2 different states btw. Now I have a feeling theres a good chance to get the phone option if you let Google find your listing instead of opening it before doing citations. I'm about to throw some major money in this and I need to know weather using just some building with a bunch of offices would land me the phone option or if I should go around town looking for people willing to take the cards for me for some $$$. Anyone has something to add?

You could try posting on craigslist or fiverr to find a person to receive the postcard and verify it for you if you can't find a way around it. Hopefully someone else will chime and have a fool proof phone method though.

You mean build up a bunch of citations and THEN apply, hoping for the phone option?
That would be very cool, if it worked out that way.

I would certainly like to get the phone option. Postcard won't work for me either.

Yea but haven't tried it and I dunno if I want to sit for 15 hours every day working only to find out Im screwed!

15 hours to build citations ? - No way does not take that long use roboform, and also use the whitespark.ca tool to find them!

Hi dragonlube, prior to this whole mandatory postcard thing I do know that if you used a phone number that was NEVER in the GP system before, you could phone verify it... but if you used a phone number that was used anytime in the GP system, it triggered an automatic mandatory postcard.

It used to be that just using "some building" with a suite number was fine. I "know" someone who rented a small storage unit and used that as the address for all of their GP listings... just using a separate suite number for each one. In case their was a random postcard verification, they still were able to collect the postcard since it would just go to the storage unit office who would hold it until picked up.

Since the latest GP changes, I have not tried this or any other method... been waiting to see how things shake out over the next couple of weeks.

MagicMike, love your input, wouldn't it be easy to test it out, I tried to open a listing just now using a bunch of random numbers, even a friends number which I know for a fact has never put it in a Google listing but didn't get the phone option. I also saw one company that had about 7 addresses (UPS stores) in a 20 mile radius but they were honest about it in the listing stating that there was no store there, its only for mailing purposes. What about using UPS, apparently thats not an issue with Google.

ya think they're tracking my IP, I have been messing around with GP listings ALLOT lately...lol

Do you mean that you can get a mail box/mail address from a UPS store and have that as the address on the GP listing?
I have these stores in my city. I am starting a small local biz marketing LLC and I wanna do a GP listing for my BIZ, but of course I dont have an actual physical address.

Are you saying this would work? (I'm not sure you are but that would be AWESOME!)

The general rule with GP and mailing addresses is that you have to be able to receive packages at the address... that apparently is their "litmus test". So, that rules out things like a PO Box, but a UPS store is perfectly fine, for now!

Of course... these are all things that worked well prior to these latest changes regarding postcard verification. I have a couple of good friends who are heavily into GP as well, and they have not had much luck yet in triggering any phone verifications.

Well, let's all keep trying! As you already know, old listings can still be edited without postcard verifying, but NEW listings are triggering only that. I hope google gets a shitstorm of complaints and ends this soon!

i tried a few different configurations; change ip, clear cookies, new listing, old listing, claim an existing listing etc etc and couldn't get the phone verification option to appear. we need a real address to receive their postcard that contains the PIN in order to be able to edit and update listings.
