People can’t send me DMs on Instagram — Message button missing

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with my Instagram account. People who visit my profile can only see the Follow button, and there is no Message button, so they can’t send me DMs.

I want people to be able to message me, but I don’t know why this option is missing.

I’ve attached a screenshot of my profile. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there a setting I need to change?

Have you checked your account’s message controls under Settings and activity → Messages and story replies? Also, is your account a personal or professional account? That might help narrow down what’s causing the Message button to disappear.
 
If its a professional account - Sometimes you can go back to personal and check if the button appears

then turn back into professional
 
Had the same problem its a new way they ban you its tempory and I was actually dming my own followers it last about 3 days dont try to message during this period they will just reset the count down,. I only sent 3 dms when it happen
 
thats not the same thing tho. a dm restriction stops YOU from sending, it doesnt remove the message button from your profile for other ppl. when its missing for visitors its usually message controls, the "others on instagram" option set to dont receive requests, so non followers just get no button. test it from a second acc that follows you and one that doesnt, if the follower sees it and the non follower doesnt then its the setting not a ban

What kind of DMs were you sending? Were you promoting a product or some kind of service?
 
First you need to know if your account is on professional or normal mode. Sometimes professional accounts needs more settings for some features to be accessible. Another reason is shadow ban. Check your account settings to be sure you are not under a ban
