I’m working on SEO for a SaaS site that’s about 5 months old. On-page SEO has been in place for around 3 months, and I’m thinking about starting link building.
Would you start guest posting at this stage, or give the domain more time to grow first?

i would not use the age of the domain as a criterion for building backlinks. if ur competitors receive mentions in SaaS directories, comparison pages nd niche blogs, it can be your starting point. besides, i would look at how many visits u can get from each source of backllinks.

5 months are enough. as soon as GSC starts to showss uhh natural traffic for the longtails, begin to drip feed the low velocity guest posts using mostly branded or generic anchors.

you can start the link building, i am sure there are inpressions and clicks already on the site so go ahead

instead of focusing on building backlinks on a particular schedule i would first focus on creating some links for the site that makes sense.this is bcz it is a SaaS site, which means that being included in software directtories or being included in a comparattive article related to such software will be a decent start.i will keep track of pages that generate impressions nd accordingly work on those.

I’d start now if your target pages are useful and technically sound. Pitch publications your SaaS customers actually read, with original insights or practical examples. Domain age alone wouldn’t be my reason to wait.

5-month-old domain is old enough to begin earning quality backlinks. Focus on relevant guest posts niche websites and natural links rather than building too many at once.

At 5 months old with 3 months of established on-page SEO, your domain is in a great position to start link building through targeted guest posts. Focus on acquiring high-quality, niche-relevant backlinks gradually to steadily build domain authority without triggering spam filters.

time to grow first?

I would not wait for the domain to mature. If the foundation and content are strong, I would begin with a few handfuls of relevant guest posts and authentic industry mentions today. For SaaS, I would focus on links that send targeted referral traffic and support topical authority, not DR. Build links as you build content, not the other way around.

I am going to start with some links from SAAS directorie nd specialized blog nd track the target pages through GSC before proceeding any further. there is no need for rushing into a big link building campaign.

Domain age matters less than content quality and backlink relevance, so I would begin gradually.
Agreed, I would start out slow and see how the website reacts before increasing the intensity. A couple of relevant links from websites with actual traffic are better than chasing after domain age and DR.

Yeah bruh I’d start now with a few relevant guest posts. No need to wait for the domain to get older, just make sure the pages are indexed and content is solid first.
Yeah, there is really no use in waiting for the domain age. I would try building up my links slowly but surely using related websites and would verify that the linking page actually got indexed.

I think 5 months is old enough to start building backlinks

No need to wait if your site has good content and the pages are already indexed

I’d start with a few relevant guest posts and build links gradually instead of going for too many at once

I would start with a few relevant links rather than waiting for the domain to get older. For SaaS, software directories and niche relevant blogs are good places to start. Then track the results in Search Console before scaling up.

I would now rather than wait for the domain to get older. if the onpage seo is solid and the site has useful content then you can begin building relevant links gradually. for a saas site then i would focus on niche relevant guest posts, genuine industry mentions and partnerships rather than chasing a fixed number of backlinks. i would also monitor rankings and organic traffic to see whats working. quality and relevance matter more than domain age alone.

5 months is old enough to start building links, but i'd be selective about which pages you're promoting. for a saas site, i'd focus on useful comparison pages, tutorials or original research that other sites actually have a reason to reference. i'd also check gsc to see which pages are already getting impressions before deciding where to focus outreach. no point spending money on backlinks if the pages themselves aren't ready.
