It's Crazy! And it's very Logical.

It's more like increasing your brand search volume, so they keyword "your brand keyword" is searches by thousands of users every day (yes, high volume is required) for a month and this data shown on search console then feeds into Google Keyword Planner which further goes to Ahref and other keyword tools.

This is crazy. I'm getting good results.

It's hard now. Google triggers so many captchas that it's much harder now.

Yeah! But, I know a company who is still doing that kind of stuff and getting good amount of traffic.

I mean they have more then 50 sites each site with good traffic dynamics and they sells guest posts and niche edits....

Interesting idea, but I believe that Ahrefs traffic estimates can be misleading, if the actual traffic isn't rising. The brand searches may affect the keyword research, but I would be more interested whether it actually brings sustainable rankings and traffic

This is a well-known method, and it works mechanically because Ahrefs calculates estimated traffic by multiplying ranking position by estimated search volume. Since you are naturally rank 1 for your own brand name, boosting that query's volume makes your overall Ahrefs traffic graph skyrocket.

Two realities to keep in mind with this:

1. The cliff drop: The moment you stop running the search bots or microworker tasks, Google Keyword Planner adjusts, and your Ahrefs chart collapses back to zero on the next data refresh.
2. Easy to spot: If someone is doing this to flip a domain or sell guest posts, anyone who opens the "Organic Keywords" tab can immediately see that 95% of the traffic comes from a single brand term while generic rankings are completely missing.

It creates a nice vanity chart, but unless that brand volume brings real customers, it is mostly a temporary illusion.

These kind of sites won't last long time. Because google says "Machine Generated traffic on your website is a kind of Spam Policy Violation". And these kind of spam hit site never gets back into SERPs (Organic).
