With AI, are people still using websites, visiting Google to do searches or nowadays we should only focus on social media + AIs? Can websites made in 2026/2027 still be profitable?

Websites are still worth building, but the days of throwing up thin pages and waiting for Google traffic are pretty much gone. I’d build around something AI/social can’t easily replace, real expertise, tools, data, community, or a strong brand—and use social + AI search as extra traffic channels.

Websites still play a core role in connecting with users. Even though AI is rapidly developing, people still have the habit of searching for information and choosing the content that best suits their needs. That’s why I still believe websites are worth investing in.

The sites could still be of some use a good site coupled with content generation brand image development and other marketing mediums might provide some possibilities i would not care much about page creation and would give more thought to providing something unique and reliable to users and social networking websites.

Cool viral websites that are primarily interactive based, rather than on hard sell text based blogs are where its at. Build something that is MEANT to be shared on socials by others, and compared together by a generation.

Yes, definitely. Good websites still matter, especially when good websites offer something and are built around real user needs.

new websites built in 2026 and 2027 can still be profitable if they offer unique value beyond a simple text answer.

Websites are still worth building. AI is changing how people discover information, but a website is still where you control the content, leads, sales and brand.

I’d treat social and AI as traffic channels, not replacements for the site.

Website development remains highly valuable as it builds brand recognition and credibility, offering advantages that other platforms cannot provide. If you plan to expand your business on a large scale, website development is essential.

But don’t you think a lot of it will eventually be taken over by LLMs? Most queries are already being answered directly by ChatGPT and Claude, while many of the remaining ones are being addressed through Google’s AI snippets.
I don’t think websites offering actual services are going anywhere, but I do think it’s going to be a tough time for traditional blogs and informational websites that mainly rely on organic search traffic.

Anything with a persons unique art, animation, and interactivity, AI is cooked. Period. lol AI is the new "blog format" now for consumers only really. But consumers still want to have fun and learn. I don't think that will go away any time soon. And its up to us, to tap into that, and build the type of sites, that people share and get excited about i think.

I think this is the type of thing we will see more of https://theuselessweb.com/ sites like listed here.

A great example indeed. It reminds me of Wordle and how it was acquired by The New York Times for over a million dollars.

I think websites are still worth building, especially when they offer something useful that AI-generated content alone can’t provide.

some potential clients will still ask to see a website before deciding if to work with you.

Checkers, analyzers and similar tools still have demand. Blogs and purely informative content will probably be less profitable (they are already)

Seems easier to build them than ever now. I have made sites since 2006, though didnt get the SEO good until more recently. Im seeing AI built sites get even more clicks than my manual method(s). So AI Chatbots and AI snippets take a lot of clicks, adjust to make it an advantage. Im happy to have seen some of this evolve. When I was paying for articles in the end a lot of them were not human but AI, that turned me onto the chatbots and writers.

Really you should decide what type of monetization/method you have that is best. R&R/Affiliate/Top 10/Membership/Directory/eCommerce
It all is easy with WP and a good theme. $10 .com has a lot of potential for building a site or sending email.

$10 .com, 3600+ clicks per annum, $3-4 PER CLICK PPC VALUE $$$$$$$, even if you earn 50 cents a click it should be gravy | 55 domains on one hpanel host
I can do apps, though with websites so easy, its still good ROI. Im adding to my methods with PBX and a rebuild of my email system. It all works, though to different amounts %/clicks. Diversify. The hardest part is getting started they say..

Voice/AI Chatbot optimization is based off conversational text and remains an option. Dont forget PUSH

Yes if it's built to be shared, and if it's good enough, it WILL also be shared.
