What is better for a small website, VPS or shared hosting?

I'm currently looking into hosting options for a small website and I'm a bit confused about whether I should start with shared hosting or go with a VPS. For those who have experience with both, which one would you recommend for a new small website and why?
shared hosting would still be the best option for a small website tbh, becuz u could use the budget allocated for the VPS for something else in the future.

you can start with shared hosting, as you see high traffic then you can move into private dedicated VPS for better traffic handling.

Go for shared linux based hosting, if you are doing smaller static website in wordpress...

Start with shared hosting. Its cheaper & easier. If the site grows big/gets more traffic then you can later move to a vps.

It depends on your website's goals. You can use free GitHub Pages to host a site that doesn't require a database - such as one built with Grav or Hugo CMS.

If you have an online store with numerous external integrations, then a VPS is certainly the way to go.
