What SEO advice do you think is overrated now ?

Honestly most "advice" floating around is just recycled from years back, people repeat it because it feels safe, not because it still moves rankings. Keyword density obsession and mass guest posting are way overrated now, Google reads intent, not keyword count, and most of those guest post/directory sites carry zero authority anymore. What still works for me is internal linking with actual intent, pushing authority from strong pages toward ones that need it, plus broken link building, slow but it works because you're offering real value for the link. Basically anything that feels like "gaming the system" has stopped working, the fundamentals just matter more now.

To me writing for the search engine was out of date. If the page provides better information than the existing top results on the search engines, it is more important than stuffing the key word in every other sentence.

I think generic just build backlinks advice is pretty overrated now, especially when relevance and quality are ignored.

Some old fundamentals still work though solid technical SEO, strong internal linking, useful content and earning relevant links are still hard to beat.

yeah some old seo advice is definitely still repeated even when the impact has changed

I think “do this because it worked for someone else” is probably one of the most overrated pieces of SEO advice. A tactic can work really well on one site and do almost nothing on another. I’d rather look at the actual site and problem first, then decide what to test.

Exact match keywords for every header just were not that important to me anymore. i would rather has some thing readable that really discusses the topics than one that mentions the same thing ten times in different ways.
