Is it still worth starting YouTube from scratch in 2026?

Yes, it's still worth starting. In my view, consistency matter most, while thumbnails help get the click. I'd stay focused on one niche at first, learn what works, then experiment once you have some momentum

Hey everyone. Curious to hear opinions from people already running YouTube channels. Right now it feels like the competition is insane and growing without a team or budget is almost impossible. But at the same time, new channels still seem to blow up pretty fast. What actually matters most for growth now? Consistency, retention, thumbnails, Shorts, SEO, or just luck? And do you think it’s better to experiment with different types of content at the beginning, or stay focused on one niche from day one?
Absolutely worth starting in my opinion. In this case i would choose one niche and experiment with several formats paying attention to retention rather than subscriber growth when people starts finishing videos growth becomes veryy much easier.

Yes you are right these days running a youtube channel is challenging because almost every content is available on youtube but the difference is just the presenting method because everyone presents the content according to their own ideology. The second thing is that you have to stick with the same content you started from first day and other things consistency, thumbnails and retention is also matters and I also suggest you to start with both shorts and long form content. You can start with your own idea if you have enough data to create videos continuously on youtube.
