How are you handling Google’s Government Documents restricted category when a client comes with visa / ETA / official document ads?

Can you show me the certification inside the Google Ads account (Policy Manager/Verification section) with the domain blurred if necessary? I don’t need sensitive information—just proof that the Government Documents & Services certification is actually applied to an account.
I understand why you're asking. Unfortunately, I can't provide a screenshot because I don't have permission to share anything from client accounts. I'd rather not post something I can't legitimately share.

Unfortunately, linking to an official .gov website is a mandatory requirement for Google Ads Government Documents & Services verification. There isn't a way to bypass this requirement. If your business isn't officially authorized and connected to the relevant government website, approval is unlikely.

Its trick, I may be able to help establish the required connection with the relevant .gov website, can't explain here.
what do you mean linking the website to .gov website, does it means buying the .gov domain and than redirect our main site to this .gov domain, than we do the rest of approval work?

No, that's not what I mean. You can't simply buy a .gov domain or redirect it to your website.

What I mean is having the appropriate official relationship or authorization with the relevant government authority, where required. The exact requirements depend on the country, the service you're offering, and Google's verification process.

A .gov domain by itself isn't the solution, and simply redirecting one wouldn't satisfy Google's policy.

I wonder if anyone has managed to get it sorted? Pretty much issues lately. I've checked the screenshot above, looks promising.

Yes, it completely works...

You need linked your website to .gov website and need to approve your Google ads account for for "Government Documents and Official Services" Certification
What do you guys think of this new government services policy coming on Oct 5 2026? Seems it's going to get a lot harder:

-----

Dear Advertiser,

Google will be updating the Google Ads “Other restricted businesses: Government documents and services policy” on October 5, 2026 in the following way.

Authorized providers may run ads that promote direct acquisition of government documents and services. An authorized provider is an advertiser that has been given explicit permission by a government to provide a specific government document or service. In order to qualify as an authorized provider who may run ads under the Government documents and services policy, you must comply with the following criteria:

a) your domain must be linked from an official, publicly accessible government website and explicitly referenced as authorized by the relevant government entity responsible for a document or service to provide that specific government document or service.

Examples of valid government authorization may include (non-exhaustive):

Government-managed directories of accredited commercial partners who have been vetted to manage application filing and document retrieval

Official regulatory portals designed to help the public identify qualified specialists who are sanctioned by the government to handle complex administrative and compliance processes

We will not accept the following examples as a valid form of government authorization (non-exhaustive):

Commercial contracts;
Business/trade licenses;
Registrations or entries on business registries, irrespective of whether they are government-managed;
Articles or blog posts, even if they are hosted on websites owned by the government

b) your domain must promote only the specific document or service corresponding to the government's authorization(s);

c) your ads must exclusively target the geographic region(s) matching the government's authorization, with the exception of categories of government documents and services that are inherently transnational, such as:

Electronic travel visas and authorizations

Border entrance travel documents

U.S.-based Trusted Traveler programs

Please note: In addition to the criteria outlined above, you are required to maintain compliance with all other Google Advertising policies, such as the Misleading Representation policy.

Google reserves the right to deny or revoke your certification at any time if your domain violates any of our policies.

We will begin enforcing the policy update on October 5, 2026.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

The Google Ads Team

Google doesn't show the certificate applied anywhere to the end user. It's all internal to them only.

Fun fact : many countries actually write on their websites, that document assistance is allowed (as travellers mostly have no clue how to fill in the forms properly) and does not require licensing or special authorizations. But google does not accept "everyone is allowed". Seems a strong SEO and a very long game is coming, with alternative ads method. Or a complex "allowed" affiliate site network promoting the main site.

I'd probably check the policy requirements before taking the project it seems easier to confirm eligibility first than deal with repeated disapprovals later I'd be interested to hear how others handle these campaigns
that makes sense

Does anyone know how businesses that provide visas manage to advertise on Google? Pretty much a lot of ads of such services, which have zero signs they could be "certified" by google as the requirements are practically impossible to fulfill. But they are up and running.

How to apply to the government to link the domain officially to the government site?

I only take visa/ETA or government-document campaigns if they fully comply with Google’s restricted-category rules and required certification. If the offer looks unofficial, misleading, or can’t prove authorization, I simply decline it.

we are currently facing issues for business setup ads, but our other competitors are running smoothly

It seems before Oct 5 it is possible to get verified with the old rules. But it will be revoked after that date. Many competitors got verified by old rules as well.

Also on Google the algo changed dramatically last week and everyone's CPA is like 2x what is was before. Hard to make money right now on Google with evisa
