Can someone please explain how Facebook read my mind? This one is too specific .

So there could be some obscure connection between you two that Facebook has identified even though you haven't had any contact with her in 10+ years.

I think the reason might be she searched and clicked to see your profile before, then facebook proposes her to the list "people you may know".

So yesterday I was walking through Walmart pickup up some groceries. I randomly thought of a person that I used to work with over 10 years ago in a city over 24 hours away via car. I worked with this person in the army and I was alone and thought of them , never said their name out loud. No one that I know now even knows this person . We both work in unrelated fields now and have never one spoken in the last 10+ years , nor were we ever Facebook friends.

Fast forward to 10 minutes ago and she randomly pops up in my “people you may know” feed as the first suggestion.

How does this happen and how is it possible?

I’m briefly familiar with the Facebook algorithms that track everything you do and where you go , etc and recommend products and pages for you based on people with similar characteristics and habits as you. BUT, This is way too specific this time and I feel is indescribable without blatant mind reading SOMEONE PLEASE HELP IT MAKE SINCE TO ME . lol
Facebook have it's own algorithm and now a days ai is taking over this. If you use any kind of ai which will help Facebook to gather much information from you. So it is not coincidence. Your existence on internet is enough to find your information for Facebook.

Facebook likely had some connection between both profiles that was not obvious old contacts location data mutual connections or account history can create weird suggestions.
It can feel like mind reading but there are usually hidden signals behind it.

Lol, this one definitely feels creepy! but Facebook doesn't need to read your mind for this to happen. There are a lot of signals behind People You May Know - mutual connections, contacts, workplace/school history, location patterns, and other interactions can all play a role.

The timing is probably just a crazy coincidence. Your brain noticed the connection because you had literally just thought about her, which makes it feel way more impossible than it actually is.

I think this is just a coincidence. Facebook can't read your mind. If you search for something on Google, Facebook might find out, but only you know your own thoughts.

I’ve been wondering this for a LONG time now, shit is getting weirder by the day.

I'd say she probably remember you too and looked you up that's why Facebook recommended her to you as People You May Know. However, this also happens to me when I thought about a product I need, I didn't look it up yet but it will appear on my ads.

Contact sync and shadow profiles. Any third person holding both your numbers builds the link, you never have to be friends. She's probably been sat in your PYMK for months. You scrolled past her 40 times without registering it, then thought about her once and saw it.

Not creepy lol. Just the first time you were looking.
