Sorry to be a bearer of bad news.
India is going to tax on mobile data per GB. This is a very dangerous.
It's going to change the internet marketing scene in India and later in the world, if it becomes a norm.

"Based on a report from the Mint, a review meeting of the telecom sector, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, floated the idea of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) implementing a tax on mobile data. India is presently the world’s largest consumer of mobile data, and if the government decides to go ahead with the proposal, common users like you and me are staring at a controversial new tax that could make affordable internet a thing of the past."

Mobile data is going to become very costly for a lot of people. And its going to be the death of Instagram, facebook, youtube and those free Movie Streaming sites (Tiktok is already banned) in India. If mobile users have to pay tax for Data used, they can't view those Videos sites that easily, which are huge bandwidth drain.
I don't know how this is going to impact us internet marketers. I guess, a lot of oppertunities for some and a lot of losses for some, based on their business models.

They are starting with Rs 1.00 per GB. I heard that if this goes well for them, they will raise it in the future to perhaps Rs 5.00 per GB. They say they are are doing this to curb the Mobile addiction in kids as this has become a huge concern in India.

The direct impact I can see is, costlier Mobile Proxies.

Im Not Indian but in this situation , VPS gonna be a better option in there? btw 5 rs isn't that much as I see ?



If it's for childs addiction, why they don't restrict the child's only? They already know everything about us even our hobbies and birth date

No worries until Tax increase on Broadband plans.

What I do is use phone for calls, and for social media, will use broadband internet.

I dont know, for me where i live mobile data are getting cheaper and cheaper, you can get 120GB 4G or 5G for $7 or even less,

This could prove impactful for local markets and SEO initiative. Adding a billion+ users who are arbitraging local marketing in tiny countries shifts market economies when the activity is only one sided. Adding that many providers without adding consumers is foundational economics.

In other parts of the world even in europe in some countries you can get unlimited data and have big numbers of minutes for 5 euro so that i call a great deal
