what type of content performs best on facebook?

yeah, video is still the easiest win on fb right now, especially short native stuff and reels. images can still pull comments if the post has a strong angle, but links usually get buried unless the page already has decent engagement. text posts can work too when they start a thread... the real thing is whether people stop and interact in the first few seconds.

reels work best for reaching out when it is cold outreach and pushing someone who isn’t following you. But if you were going to try to spark discussion or group interaction, photos or posting the link in your fst comment will work much better, I think so .
 
Reels bring in the highest views if you need to drop a link, post it in the comment section so reach does not drop.
 
Reels get you reach. Reach isn't something you can bank. Link posts get throttled hardest, so if you need the click, post native and put the link elsewhere.

From what I’ve seen, short videos and image posts tend to perform best for reach and engagement, especially when they give people a reason to comment or share. Text posts can still work well if they start a good discussion.

Links usually get less organic reach because Facebook wants to keep people on the platform, so I’d avoid making every post a link drop. A mix of formats usually works better, with video or images for reach and occasional links for traffic.
 
Posting images on Facebook is also a great way. That's why I often invest a little extra time and effort into creating branded images to enhance brand recognition; it's well worth it.
 
In my opinion, video is the best format, but the question is in which vertical you are working. Over time, I have seen that it can be monetized through Facebook's partner program; currently, it is easier to get a boost there than on YouTube. It provides good reach, but again, it depends on your niche.
