Hey everyone,

I've recently launched a job board ( new domain) — but it's a job board with a bit of a twist (which I can't fully reveal here for obvious reasons ). I'm trying to grow it without much of a budget, so I'm hoping to tap into the collective wisdom here.

I'd really appreciate any advice on a few fronts:

Free marketing methods – What channels have actually worked for you when starting out with zero ad spend? Things like community building, social media, partnerships, content, etc. I'm open to anything that's brought in real results.

Early revenue – For those who've run job boards (or similar platforms), how did you start monetizing in the early days? Paid listings, featured posts, employer subscriptions, affiliate deals? I'd love to know what worked when traffic was still small.

SEO & traffic growth – This is a big one for me. Any tips on keyword strategy, getting indexed faster, building backlinks, or structuring job pages for search visibility would be hugely helpful. Lessons learned (and mistakes to avoid) are all welcome.

If you've been through this yourself, I'd love to hear your story. And if you know someone in the community who's good with any of this, feel free to tag them in the thread so they can chip in too.

Thanks in advance — really appreciate any guidance you can share.

My advice would be to look at the Google Indexing API, because unlike everyone that tries to use it to index any old url, your use case is specifically what the API was built for (indexing JobPosting structured data).

I’d start by targeting long tail job keywords and getting pages indexed quickly.
That usually brings the first steady organic traffic.

My advice would be to try to build a community around your niche rather than worry too much about monetization. If you can pull in a certain group of people and keep them around, companies will see value in posting jobs there.

Focus on SEO from one day .Create indexing job page build strong linking with niche communities. Organic traffic compounds over time.

Everyday open your laptop with 1 thing in mind. To promote your job board on the internet on 10 places. Find relevant discussions and engage there.
Also think of offering "value" via some "free methods". U can PM me your project and a few competitors of yours and I can do the keyword research part of yours for free.

For a new job board, try focus on getting the first users organically through niche communities and partnerships.

For SEO, create useful location/niche specific job pages and let the site build authority over time. For monetization, featured listings are probably the easiest place to start.

regarding the formation of a new job board, my advice would be to first capture a small niche nd then compete broadly. create pages for job nd be a part of communities that can contribute to your seo growth.
