Do you guys realize that the original poster asked this in 2022.
By now, he is either a pro level editor or gave up on video editing.

Yeah @neo is right this thread is old but since people keep bumping it... I actually agree with @XSMMDoctor on this. Everyone gets obsessed with learning Premiere or Davinci right away and they get overwhelmed. If you are doing this for marketing or social media, just get capcut and copy the pacing of high performing videos in your niche. You don't need to learn VFX in 10 days like some people are saying lol, you just need to know how to keep people watching past the first 3 seconds.

Have Claude help you whenever you get stuck. Cuts the learning curve down significantly

it is possible to master the theory on this topic in a matter of few weeks if you practice often,

By practicing every day you will figure out the tricks quite quicklyy

honestly just grab capcut desktop and start copying what already works. download 5 viral videos in the niche you want to target, throw them on your timeline, and cut your own footage to match their pacing frame by frame. you dont need to learn complex keyframing or color grading to get high engagement, its all about the hook and keeping the pacing tight. you can learn the basics of that in a weekend instead of wasting months on advanced tutorials you probably wont ever need anyway.

start with CapCut or DaVinci Resolve. Learn basic cuts, transitions, text, audio and subtitles first then move into more advanced editing. YouTube has plenty of good beginner tutorials.

Lol these answers must be bots. OP was last seen Aug 19, 2022

Agreeing with @Colonel Potter on copying winners, but to add to that... instead of editing random stuff, go rip some popular podcast audio. throw it into capcut and try to force yourself to add a visual cut, zoom, or b-roll every 2 to 3 seconds. thats the retention hack right now. you can grab free b-roll from pexels or pixabay so you dont have to shoot anything. learning the software is easy but training your brain to keep the viewer from scrolling is where the money is.

couple months if you practice every day start with capcut or premiere just edit random clips and watch youtube tutorials
