Many agencies still working for getting cold email and cold outreach for client acquisition but response rates seem lower than before are you still getting SEO clients through outreach or have referrals content and personal branding become more effective sources of leads?

Personal branding is more important today, though cold outreach can still work when done well.

In my experience, outreach still works, but it's not as easy as it was a few years ago. I'd focus on building trust alongside outreach, things like referrals, case studies, and consistent content tend to make conversations much warmer. A mix of both usually works better than relying on a single lead source.

Cold outreach can still work but I think personalization matters much more now Generic emails are easy to ignore Referrals content marketing and personal branding often bring warmer leads but outreach is still effective when you target the right businesses and offer something specific that solves a real problem for them

in my point of view cold reach is still effective way but referal seams to be quality lead and trust built easily to customer easy way to convert

Cold outreach still works but response rates are rough.
For SEO service sellers the best inbound channel nobody talks about is forum reputation. clients who find you through helpful posts already trust you before they message. no convincing needed. been getting more enquiries from consistent forum engagement than any outreach campaign. pre qualified trust beats cold email every time.

There's no doubt that referral and personal brandings are working currently. But, If you combine this with cold outreach. then, conversion will become much more easier.

Cold outreach absolutely still works, but the spray and pray method is completely dead. Sending highly personalized video audits or targeting very specific niches gets the best responses right now. If you combine that targeted outreach with a solid personal brand, your close rate will be much higher.

It still works if you personalize heavily instead of blasting generic templates. Sending a quick, personalized video audit showing exact site issues usually gets a much better response rate than a standard pitch email. Most people are tired of automated spam, so quality definitely beats quantity now. ;)

In personal understanding, having your branding done right and a solid online reputation, it's far more important and profitable than cold outreach. Cold outreach can maybe be more profitable in the beginning to get the first clients if you decide to call for local companies which you can target by their insufficient online presence.

Cold outreach still works, but in practice it is less effective than it used to be. In 2026, you will usually see the best results from referrals, personal branding, content marketing, and a more targeted approach to outreach rather than depending on cold emails only.

business owners receive dozens of SEO emails every week, so most generic pitches get ignored. Cold emails will only get you benefit if they are personalized and targeted for that specific business.

The channel may matter less than the amount of trust already built before the first conversation because referrals and personal branding often start with that advantage while outreach has to earn it from scratch.

Results are what sells cold outreach. If you are cold emailing every deli owner in america for example, do you have a deli that you ranked and are showing in the email? Loom is the key to cold outreach. Sell the result, not the offer. You can do one loom for a category containing thousands of businesses.

When we took on advertising clients years ago for similar services, I'd send cold email and DM looms to a specific business type and say "hey I noticed your hashtags are way off" then we'd have a quick 5 minute audiet video showing how everyone in their category was using hashtags they would never rank for because they didn't get the required likes to be shown on discovery for those tags. I showed an actualy tool like hashtastic they could easly buy themselves, the hashtags it recommended based on current likes per post and said " you don't need to buy this tool, if you want, reach out and I'll run a quick report for your account for free"

That lead to hundreds of warm sales cales per market.

"You're not ranking anywhere to be found by new customers, we can help" sucks, you have to prove you can help to get decent response rates.

but truthfully cold emailing still works it is just that email these day are not being read. there should be at least one legitimate concern about their site becuz that can affect the traffic.

cold pitching could be an excellent approach, but simply mailing an email to various businesses will not fetch any results. First of all, I shall analyze the website of the business nd point out something that could be causing trouble for the traffic to their site. the email must be drafted in such a way that it does not sell SEO services directly.

Cold outreach still works, but targeting and offer quality matter more than clever copy.
Right you are, a custom message to the perfect customer is more effective than a great template to hundreds of prospects. I would start by identifying an appropriate offer, followed by copy testing.

I think cold outreach still works for SEO services, but finding the right businesses is probably more important than sending a high volume of emails. If you can point out a genuine SEO issue on their website and explain how you'd approach it, you have a much better reason to start a conversation. I'm curious whether agencies are getting better results from cold email or LinkedIn these days.
