One result that surprised me was how much improving internal linking helped. I expected backlinks to have a bigger impact, but adding relevant internal links to older pages led to faster crawling, better rankings for several keywords, and a noticeable increase in organic traffic.
However, what surprised me the most was the removal of some parts that were relevant to the topic but did not help the page in any way to full fill the query. This caused the page to becomes shorter, but there was improvement in terms of ranking and engagements after focusing on the content.

One test that surprised me was updating old content instead of creating new pages. A few small improvements in content, structure, and intent alignment brought back traffic faster than expected.
One of the biggest surprises for me was improving internal linking instead of building more backlinks, and seeing rankings increase across multiple pages. Updating older articles with fresh information and better search intent alignment also brought back traffic much faster than I expected. It reminded me that on-page optimization and content quality can sometimes deliver bigger gains than chasing new links.

there were certain experiments which were quite surprising to me. for example one experiment was eliminating unnecessary repetitions of keywords from certain articlles. my initial perception was that the increased use of the target keyword could be helpful but after optimizing the content for better readability nd flow i found out that there was an increase in rankking positions.
The surprising test for me was to remove a no of internal links instead of creating additional ones. i expected that the pages would suffers from a loss of support, however, the cleaner structure helped to make the most relevant links more noticeable and, thus, improve some of the target pages. This helped to understand that internal linking is not always an additional process.

One small change in the introduction made a difference. Visitors seemed to stay longer after the page became more direct.
The biggest revelation that i have had when testing something is by testing less, rather than more. one such case involves the removals of content from a single page where this content was only present for the purpose of covering more keyword variations. not only did it make the content more readable, but it even helped to rank better.

One experiment which shocked me was deleting content from a web page rather than adding content to it. I expected the web page to become less visible, but when we made the answer shorter and more straight forward, we managed to enhance both the user interaction and the search engine ranking. sometimes, it is much better to delete content than to add 1,000 words more.

i did a tiny thing once: updated a few “faq” headings to match the exact wording people used in the search results, and it unexpectedly boosted rankings and also got more ai overview mentions. i didn’t expect such a quick lift from just the title/structure.
