These days I spend more time in updating old posts, fixing broken links, replacing old screenshots and keeping everything up to date rather than writing new content.

Has blogging become more about maintaining what we already have?

I think it's a mix of both. Publishing new content is still important, but regularly updating your best performing posts has become just as valuable. As AI overviews and search results changing so quickly, so keeping content fresh and accurate matters more than ever.
 
I think it's become a balance of both, updating your well performing blogs is as important as publishing new posts.
 
I Think both important here. On a daily basis, you have to maintain it and publish content on a regualar basis.

I think blogging has become a mix of growing and maintaining. Creating new content is important but updating old posts often gives faster results because those pages already have authority.
Keeping content fresh, fixing issues and improving user experience has become a big part of successful blogging today.
 
Honestly, updating good content often gives a better return than publishing something new freshness matters more than volume now.
 
Feels like both are part of the same cycle — once a site has enough content, maintenance (fixing dead links, refreshing stats) starts mattering more for rankings than new posts, since stale pages lose relevance over time.
 
For established blogs, definitely. I still publish new content, but updating older posts often gives a better return than writing another article from scratch.

i believe that it is not maintenance rather than growth. The fastest growing blogs appears to approach each post as a brand new launch by refreshing, improving on the information using search Console and then again promoting it. a single gud post may bring in visitors for years if you work on it consistently rather than neglecting it.
 
I think it's a bit of both Updating older content is important but new content still matters

In the case of already existing blogs, i would say that mainteniance is becoming a part of growth, not some separate process. A gud old blog post may generate more through its renewal, improvement, and promotion than a completely new article which has no history at all. The trick is to know what pages need work.

same here. nowadays maintaining the freshnes of old information appears to be as important as writing new articles. trends evolve information gets outdated nd even minor modifications might become crucial. i prefer having a smaller blog which is updated on a regular basis rather than an enormous one containing outdated infformation.

it seems to me that successfful blogging now involves both creation nd maintenance. there is something very valuable about an article already written that has its traffic nd little imprrovements such as updating the examples, eliminating out of date information or even making the visual content better can give it a second breath.

It seems that in case of an exisiting blog, the easiest way to grow is right there in maintenance.
Since a page has ranks, links, and data history, it will most probably be easier to improve a page rather than create a completely new page from scratch.
i still write new articles, however, updating existing ones became for me an integral part of growing my blog.
 
Yes, I think updating old content is becoming more important. A fresh and accurate article can perform better than a new article with outdated information.

What i believe has changed is that maintenance has been incorporated into the process of growth rather than being an opposite to growth.
An existing page that already has rankings, links, and data history is much more valuable than an article created from scratch.
the important thing here is to know when it is worth renewing old pages and when they just occupy space.
 
It is essential to maintain high-quality content in competitive niches. But if you want to keep growing, you still need to publish consistently.
 
I now look at maintenance as a part of growth and not something that is separate. an existing post which has got some impression, ranking, and history has much more to offer than a fresh piece of content. I normally check which pages have lost their clicks or impressionns and then go for updating those pages.
