I recently came across an agency that advertises a service where they automate "daily activity" for businesses to increase engagement, which they claim helps improve local rankings and visibility.

I'm not looking for a step-by-step guide to copying it—I’m mostly interested in understanding how these systems are built under the hood. I have a pretty solid technical background, but this is a space I haven't explored before.

For anyone who's worked with or researched this kind of automation:

  • What does the overall architecture typically look like?
  • What technologies are commonly involved? (Android emulators, real devices, proxies, GPS/location handling, device fingerprinting, browser automation, etc.)
  • What are the biggest technical challenges or bottlenecks?
  • Are there common mistakes people make when trying to build systems like this?
  • If you were starting from scratch and just wanted to understand how it all works, what would you recommend learning first?
I'm mainly interested in the technical side and hearing from people with experience rather than marketing claims. Any blog posts, GitHub projects, talks, or other resources would also be appreciated.

Most Agencies make it sound more advanced than it really is the real challenge is maintenance, Since APIs, UIs, and platform rules change often enough to break automated workflows.

I've first heard of this kind of thing few years ago, and just recently i've heard about it once more, so it should be actually working. Just curious if anyone has some more detailed info that they could share to point me into the right direction where to dig, how is this thing called and etc.

This is exactly what I'm looking for, theres this agency Jumper Media that is doing the same thing and they have been around for a while so I guess its working for them - lets collab and figure this out, I can vibe code shit but the blocker is Codex thinks its blackhat and its not moving forward with the build

Real devices, real location, real accounts with job outsourced locally

Has to look real or it won't work

Not burning the accounts. Soon as an account is flagged, the local business is reviewed and may get penalized

Yes. Burning accounts. Doing too many checkins and reviews from a single acct and getting flagged
  • If you were starting from scratch and just wanted to understand how it all works, what would you recommend learning first?
Build local contacts with real accounts, share revenue with them for doing the checkins and local signals

agency mentioned that they have 100k+ real devices and automated, so i doubt that those are real accounts and/or contacts, it should be automated on this scale...

from what I've seen, these automation services don't have the impact they claim. genuine reviews, a well optimized google business profile, and strong local seo tend to deliver much better long term results

different devices (emulators work)
resi proxies from area ideally
real gmails with history
and then just basically create playwright automations for searches and browsing.

i see you're mixing playwright with native mobile apps, what do you mean by that? because I just see two different things or strategies, one is the actual automation for live-drive or so, another is just generating clicks (which i assume actual playwright can do with some stealth patches). Another interesting thing is do google accounts with history really give that extra impact? And if so, what's that history you're talking about? A few year old account with some search history or etc? Verified mail, phone?

While I do agree with this, the agency did a demo and ranked one of my clients in less than 2 weeks.. for me that means it works at least as a boosting tool - would be nice to have it on top of optimizing the profile because just optimizing the profile wont have impact without real traffic

activity is good but it isn't replacement of reviews, good content, citations, and real user engagement. You need to work on those too if you want to reach top 3.
