I stop when the page reaches its traffic protentional. chasing tiny ranking gains isn't always worth the effort.

I only give up on a page after testing every major SEO improvement and seeing on meaningful progress over several months.

I usually give a page three to six months with regular updates. If it still shows no progress, I move on.

Over a period of 3 to 6 months, I will monitor traffic and relevant metrics to evaluate the page's effectiveness, and then determine the appropriate course of action. whether or not to continue using it.

For me the data decides if a page shows no meaningful growth after several months despite multiple optimizations I'd rather focus my effort on a new opportunity with better potential

I usually give a page 3–6 months; if it's still not gaining traction after updates and backlinks, I move on or merge it with stronger content.
I usually stop making major changes after a page has had enough time to be crawled and collect meaningful performance data. If it's ranking, getting impressions, and showing gradual improvement, I'd rather focus on publishing new content than endlessly tweaking the same page. I'll only revisit it if rankings drop, search intent changes, or I discover new information that genuinely improves its value.

Stop working on a page if the topic has lost its overall search demand and user interest. It is a waste of effort to optimize text for keywords that nobody is looking up anymore.
I usually wait for a page to get real data beffore I decide. If I have improved the content updated the structure and given it a few months with no meaningfful progress, I would rather move on and create something better. When to stop can be as important as what to optimize.

if a page still has potential i'll keep improving it But if it's been stagnant for months and the ROI isn't there I'd rather spend my time creating content with a better chance of ranking

I usually give a page 3-6 months, depending on competition. If it's indexed, has solid internal links, and has been improved a few times but still isn't gaining impressions or rankings, I either merge it with a stronger page, retarget a different keyword, or move on. Sometimes the opportunity is the keyword,, not the page itself.
Not all pages deserve to be kept forever. After a few rounds of improvements I usually look for signs of progress. If u r not seeing the growth in traffic, engagement, or conversions uh are after, it is time to move on to something more promising.

To me the appropriate moment to give up should depend on the signs and not only on the timing. If u have tried different enhancements, fixed the problems related to technical side, improved the content. In some cases, the page needs further impprovement however, in others, it is necessary to listen to the data.

However I generally give a page multiple shots at succeeding before I move on. I will improve its conttent, create links internally, address any technical problems that exist, and earn a couple of backlinks for it. However if it does not work and this page fails to achieve higher rankings or generarte traffic after some time I move on from there.

I usually give it a page 3-6 months, depending on the competition, and the search volume too. If it is getting impressions but few clicks, I will tweak the title and meta description, a bit more aggressively. When I see clicks but the ranking stays weak then I update the content, reinforce internal links, and get more relevant backlinks. I only stop putting effort in when several optimization rounds deliver little to no improvement, and the keyword does not line up with my goals anymore.

I rarely give up on a page without understanding why its not performing, first ill update the content, improve internal linking, build a few relevant backlinks and make sure it matches search intent. If after several months and multiple improvements it still isnt gaining traction ill usually merge it into a stronger page or target a different keyword instead of continuing to invest time in it.
Sometimes the problem isnt the page itself, its simply that the keyword is too competitive or the search intent has changed.

Half the thread says 3 to 6 months, and the calendar is the wrong instrument. "Not performing" is four different diseases, and only one of them is terminal:
- Crawled, not indexed -> site-level trust problem. Google is rationing your whole domain, and no amount of on-page tweaking on that one URL fixes it.
- Indexed, zero impressions -> you targeted a query nobody types, or Google reads it differently than you do. This is the terminal one. Kill or retarget.
- Impressions, no clicks -> it ranks somewhere, the title and snippet lose the SERP. Cheapest fix on this list, start here.
- Stuck between position 15 and 30 for months -> the content is fine, the site lacks authority. That's a links problem. Rewriting the same 1,200 words a fourth time won't move it, and neither will merging.
So before starting any timer, open GSC and figure out which failure you're actually in. Giving a page "more time" only works when time was the missing ingredient, and it almost never is.
Under normal , I tend not to easily throw away a page since it may take quite a few months for the keywords to rise in ranking positions. Some of the factors considered when throwing away a keyword are the number of impressions, click-through rate, ranking, and the degree of satisfaction of the search intent.
In case no progress has been made despite updating and improved internal linking, then I would consider throwing away the keyword. Sometimes, although it costs more to optimize the keyword, it may still prove cheper than starting from scratch with another one.
