Are expired domains still gives you a Ranking advantage ?

For some reason a lot of bots descend on any topic to do with expired domains, it is they who are making it seem confusing.

As someone that has been servicing domainers (10s of thousands of them) for more than 10 years I guarantee that expired domains still work very well.

Not what this topic is about. But if you want it fresh, then make sure it has no previous history. Check Archive and CompleteDNS for dns check.
 
The gap between good and bad results comes down to domain quality more than domain age.
 
They still work, but the gap between a good expired domain and a bad one is huge. I've seen expired domains take off quickly, and I've seen others do absolutely nothing despite strong metrics. I spend more time checking the domain's history and old rankings than looking at DR these days. That's usually what separates the winners from the disappointments.

how i can exactly know if an expired domain is worth buying or not ? , how to check all needed things to know if its good clean history domaon or not , or is suing fresh domain better ? and to get pages indexed using a paid tool will be good move ?

i usuallu scrape bulk then make a coffe wait around 2-8 minutes then put them all into spamzilla to check metrics

There is this video guide about vetting domains. It is specifically about expired domains but the tips apply to all domains. When you have done it for a while you will start to see things that jump out at you.

The main steps, that I use, are look for domains with decent Moz and Majestic stats, then check the backlinks lists to check for obvious spam. If a domain is still looking good I will then check out the history of the domain's content. They are the main steps but there is a lot of stuff in that video, and the series it comes from.

Most people look for DR and DA first. whereas you should check the niche first. If the old domain was about travel and your site is about casinos, it may not help much, even if the numbers look good.
Match the niche first. Check the metrics after. This can save you a lot of time and money.
However, I would suggest you stay away from expired domains for now. If you don't know what to check, it's easy to make mistakes and waste your time and money.

That makes sense. Besides niche relevance, what metric do you trust the most during the evaluation of expired domain ?

Do you think checking a domain's history is more important than looking at its DR score ?
 
Yes expired domains still help but I think expectations are too high. A good expired domain may help you to start faster but it would not replace good content and proper SEO.
 
as a beginner, i would focus on checking domain's background in place of assuming every expired domain has value.
 
That's great if you want to get indexed quickly and the site hasn't been compromised by spam.

since you asked, niche relevance is the first thing I check. If the old domain's content and backlinks don't match my new site's niche, I skip it, no matter the metrics
After that, I look at the backlink profile, Not DR, not DA. I check where the links are actually coming from. If most referring domains look like link farms, spam, or irrelevant directories, I walk away
DR can be inflated by bad links. Real trust comes from relevant, clean backlinks. that's is matters
