What Do I Need to Start a YouTube Channel?

Your phone is more than enough to start. YouTube is all about the value and entertainment your content brings to the audience, not how expensive your camera is. If people actually enjoy your videos, you'll grow regardless of your gear. Just use what you have right now and focus heavily on making the content engaging.

Your phone handles the shooting perfectly, but do yourself a favor and get a decent PC or laptop instead of camera gear. Trying to edit, render, and manage large video files on a mobile device will burn you out fast. A computer lets you run CapCut desktop smoothly, use Photoshop for proper thumbnails, and handle multi-tasking without crashing.

If you have proper setup then you can do multiple things.For example you can edit your content on your own.It will be easier to handle things if you have proper equipment .
 
a phone is enough to start most successful youtube channels today focus more on content and consistency first good lighting and clear audio matter more than expensive equipment you can upgrade gear later once your channel starts growing
 
From my experience, gear is overrated for beginners. I managed to get decent production quality with a phone and DIY lighting setup. My real problem wasn't the equipment, it was the content. I think people will forgive average video quality if the content is interesting, but great production won't save a boring video.
 
you need a phone, and content plan. You dont need to have a solid plan but having an outline of the niche you will target, and your main topics can save you the headache of going through a period of no ideas. YT rewards consistent posting a lot more than other platforms

If you only have a phone, I'd start with short form contentt.

Take inspiration from viral videos, add your own twist, and keep testing different niches.

It's a good way to learn what works before investing in better equipment.
