Hi,
I want to know your future plans If, Google removed back-links as a ranking factor tomorrow, what would you focus on? Do you have any alternate options?

I would rather focus on creating content that people actually want to visit, and improving user experience. Ranking factors change all the time so relying too heavily on any one in particular can be risky. Diversifying traffic sources and building a loyal audience would probably be my priority.

In this case, I would start concentrating on other aspects such as user experience, branding, and evergreen content. Al these would keep attracting the audience and therefor could act as ranking factor.

If Google removed backlinks as a ranking factor than I will get more focused on content quality, user engagement and brand building. I will also get more active on social media platforms Pinterest, Instagram, Youtube, Facebook and Reddit for promoting my business.

if that ever happened i would shift more toward content quality, searching intent matching and user engagement signals. internal structure and on page optimization would probably matter a lot more too since external authority signals would be gone.

as wild as it sounds, it is bound to happen. The AI factor will inevitably discredit the *number of backlinks* factor of algo in near future. what replaces it could be engagement signals (as evident by Google disclosure in recent antitrust case) or links from top tier websites only. Now typically we treat TOP TIER as a good niche website with legit traffic and rankings in SERPS, but the AI may not treat them as such. If you want to test this out yourself, run a quick experiment. Go ask ChatGPT or Gemini to list the "most trusted websites" in any given niche. The answers you get will show you exactly what AI considers a true authority and it’s a much tighter, more elite circle than standard SEO tools would lead you to believe.

Content quality is more important than backlinks. so if Google removes it, nothing major will be change for SEO.

I'd focus on becoming the best answer, not the most linked page. Content , trust , and user satisfaction would be the new backlink.

this will never happen since google is literally built on backlinks. however, it treats them as a really strong ranking signal not the single factor for ranking a site.

It will never be happen, but in case they actually shift to something new so we will consider content creation and will learn new factors for ranking

If Google removes backlinks Id focus on quality content user experience topical authority brand trust and audience engagement

I'd focus no content quality and user experience. sites that genuinely help users would have an even bigger advantage.

In Other words, had there not been any of the above back links, the fight would surely have been much tougher for the trust, enagement, and branding components. But then again, the victorious web pages would still have ruled the SERPs, Just based on other elements such as content and engagement.

Reviews/ Community Posts are a good effect for Ranking too.
