Hello,

I have a laptop farm consisting of about 40 laptops and I'm wondering if anyone here has a method that can help me use them to make some profit.

Hey mate, here are some ways you can try to make some profit from your laptops:

1. Mining Cryptocurrency (Careful with This One)

You could try mining crypto like Monero or Ethereum (depending on the GPU power of your laptops). Don’t expect to get rich here, though laptops aren’t mining beasts, and the electricity costs could eat your profits. But hey, if you’ve got access to cheap or free electricity, it’s worth a shot!

2. Distributed Computing Projects

Companies and researchers often pay for computing power. Platforms like https://boinc.berkeley.edu/ or https://foldingathome.org/ don’t always pay, but you could look into alternatives like https://www.honeygain.com/ or distributed render farms (think CGI projects for movies or architecture). Your laptops’ combined power might earn you steady passive income.

3. Sell Computing as a Service

Turn your laptop farm into a makeshift cloud computing cluster. You could advertise your service to small businesses or developers who need temporary computing power but can’t afford AWS or Azure. If you’re tech-savvy, set up something like Docker or Kubernetes to make it more appealing.

4. Create a Render Farm

If your laptops have decent GPUs, you can offer rendering services for 3D artists, animators, or video editors. Blender enthusiasts, for instance, are always looking for affordable rendering options. Just set up software like Blender’s Network Rendering or similar tools to get started.

5. Host Online Services

Use your laptops to host websites, game servers, or even virtual private servers (VPS) for people. This can be a recurring revenue stream if you find clients who need cheap hosting. Tools like Docker can help you manage multiple services easily.

Start small, experiment with a few ideas, and scale what works. Keep an eye on costs, electricity, maintenance, etc. and you’ll find a sweet spot for steady income. Good luck! )

Sell 38, and use 1 for content creation on multiple platforms, and the other as a spare, or hire someone to work with you. You'll have production money, and software/plugins money. Actually you can create simple 2d animations for free with blender, and many resources or a drawing tablet.

You can try crypto mining, running virtual machines, or doing freelance tasks like data entry or testing. Another option is using them for social media automation or ad networks.

If the laptops have decent power, you can run ads, mine crypto, or even do data processing.

You could look into running traffic bots, captcha solving, or multi-account farming—just depends how hands-on you wanna get.

Mh, maybe something like Captcha Solving (Manual or Semi-Auto)
Tools like 2Captcha or Anti-Captcha pay per solved request

Set up scripts to route requests, solve, and return

Not highly profitable per device, but scales with volume

You can use them for microtasks or testing ad/traffic setups, but real profit depends on the system you build, not just the laptops.

People usually try things like running small freelance microtasks, browser automation testing, or simple content/account management setups, but 40 laptops won’t earn much unless you have a solid scalable system behind it.

People usually use laptop farms for microtasks or account management, but real profit depends on having a solid workflow, not just the devices.

With that many devices, you’re basically sitting on a small distributed setup. You could explore things like QA/testing for websites and apps, running different browser/device environments, or even using them for basic freelancing tasks that can be parallelized. The key is finding something where scale actually gives you an advantage instead of just idle hardware.

I know this is an old thread getting revived. But I am surprised no one suggested so far anything within the gaming industry. I remember this one case in Ukraine, where they had a warehouse of 4000 PlayStations, farming Fifa 21 ingame currency. I am sure there is hundred's of ways to monetize a laptop farm within the gaming industry alone.

are 40 laptops even enough to make a noticeable profit or is that still a pretty small operation

You can use them for automation work like bots or scraping, it’s simple to start and can bring some steady income over time.

with a large fleet of devices you have a goldmine for social media automation in my 8 years of experience I’ve seen people make bank by running aged reddit or Instagram accounts for client management since you have the hardware you just need a clean proxy setup to avoid footprints definitely a solid position to be in.

Hello,

I am very interested in your farm, could you please let me know where are you based in?

You could look into offering services that benefit from multiple devices, like testing, automation, or content processing. A setup with 40 laptops can be useful if managed properly.

Run distributed computing, crypto mining (where legal and profitable), device rental, automated testing, content rendering, or AI task processing across multiple devices to generate income.
