Hi, I am new to seo, but I have found that learning keyword research and search intent first makes a huge difference. Understanding what people are searching for and why seems more important than jumping into advanced SEO tactics away.

First and foremost, you need to know how the search engines works, understand the basic techniques of crawling, indexing, ranking and serving;
Then, manage the 3 pillars of SEO: On page-the content, off-page- the authority and Techinical SEO - the machine;
Thirdly, it comes to the evaluation. You need to know how to read the data to analyse the performance of your site. Use google console and google analytics to monitor the performance and try to make improvement step by step.
Last but not least, write for human and format for machine. By doing so, you already outpace '90%' of your competitions.

- backlinks still matter
- the content must address its main keyword thoroughly, but in small, concise and well optimized sentences and paragraphs
- SEO includes many parts (niche + keyword research, site structure + optimization + technical SEO, content quality + optimization + internal linking, site promotion + backlinks)
- social media helps build up social proof, which leads to trust, which leads to better rankings in the long term
