Google Seems to Be Prioritizing Discussions Over Content Now?

Been noticing something interesting lately with fresh SEO projects.

Pages with genuinely useful content are getting “Discovered – currently not indexed” for weeks… while random forum threads and Reddit discussions are getting indexed within hours.I tested this on 3 different domains:

Fresh AI-written article - delayed indexing
Same topic discussed naturally in forums - indexed fast
Branded/entity mentions + internal links - indexing improved noticeably

Feels like Google is heavily prioritizing:

- Real discussions
- User engagement signals
- Brand/entity trust
- Fresh crawl activity

SEO is slowly moving from “publish content” to “create searchable presence everywhere.

Anyone else seeing this pattern recently?

It has been since they introduced AI overviews. Most of the AI overviews are based on reddit threads. I personally started building my content in discussion style.
 
My rough checklist now is: fix internal crawl depth, avoid thin duplicate angles, build entity mentions off-site, watch server logs for Googlebot, then request indexing only after the page has supporting signals
 
We have seen that the rise of generative AI resulted in an overwhelming number of articles online and it seems this has been posing a challenge for Google in terms of the resources needed to efficiently crawl and index all this vast content, especially considering increasing cloud computing costs. Moreover, for Google, those AI generated articles appear as remixes of what is already in the indexes. So, definitely, we need to adapt SEO strategies accordingly, but traditional SEO no longer yields the results it once did.
 
It is clearly a shift from pure content to searchable presence. A searchable presence where the target audience interacts, for example social platforms, forums, Q&A websites, etc. Perhaps Google is now indexing based on some invisible online trust score ?

seeing similar. i don't think google loves forums. i think google trusts them. reddit threads arrive with authority, fresh activity, user signals, and constant crawling already baked in. a brand new article on a small site has to earn that trust first. indexing and ranking are becoming two very different battles.
 
Yeah, I have noticed it with reddit posts.
An average post with a lot of comments will easily outrank a good article with no comments on Reddit.
What I'm trying to do now... post on reddit (my link) and get comments.
 
GG is basically a reddit search engine now. my long articles sit in discovered not indexed for weeks, while a short forum thread ranks instantly.
if you want your pages crawled, you literally have to drop links into active threads where the bots already live. traditional seo alone feels dead
 
I have also noticed this. In my opinion is not about AI vs forum content, its about trust and crawl frequency. Forum sites can crawl easily but new article need strong signals to be in Google's sight so Google can index them.
 
yeah i have been seeing this too with my local seo projects, fresh pages just sit in crawl limbo for weeks. i started pushing brand metions on forums and niche communities first and that actually helped my pages get picked up way faster.
 
Publishing and ranking used to be something you could do almost instantly with SEO, but now it's more about building visibility and trust throughout the web as a first step, then allowing content to benefit from it.
