I've been thinking lately… we all somehow ended up doing SEO
I’m pretty sure most of us didn’t originally plan for this career path.
What did you actually study for?
I did a culinary course. I always had a passion for cooking, but things didn’t go as planned, and I switched to SEO. (I know it’s an odd path, but I don’t even remember how I ended up making this choice )

Tell me what did you study for? If not SEO, what you'd be doing right now?

For me, Internet finance.
It's really a good topic. SEO really gathers all of us here. As a newbie I want to thank everybody here; you guys really make this forum and SEO thrive.
Maybe I will be an insurance salesperson.

I studied MBA in HR. Never thought I’d end up in SEO back then.

Honestly, I only prepared for one thing... somehow got tossed into SEO and presently my usual life routine is essentially:

Getting up
Checking where I stand
Determining that the traffic is down
Pointing the finger at Google
Launching Search Console
Uttering "it's fine" (it's really not fine)
Browsing update vibes on X/Reddit as if it's breaking news
Buy backlinks / reject backlinks / question life choices
Going to bed with a thought: "Tomorrow the rankings will recover"

But i always had one wish that is to be a part of Army.

Oh I did a complete 360°

Medical Sciences ❤

I still love the field i studied in,
But "this" gives me excitement!
I'm fascinated with BHW

I come from a business family so I would always experiment with things other people would frown upon.
(Like Multi-accounting & BH SEO)

When I discovered BHW
It was like...
Wow, you're my people!

I studied automotive but changed my career path and now work in marketing.

I worked in the food service industry for many years, then discovered CPA marketing and switched to this field. I've been here for 5 years already and have no regrets:cool:
Woahh, someone like me food to seo. Just like you I never regretted. I am actually grateful I chose SEO.
I did philosophy in spirituality but I am currently doing digital asset trading other than SEO or digital marketing

That's how the life turned :D
Philosophy in spirituality! sounds interesting.
Computer Science
Building apps and learning marketing
Haha, from creating a product to getting it in front of customers.

This is a role I've always envy about. I honestly don't know everything you guys do, but I feel like you all have a great time in the workplace.

Respect brother!
I studied computer stuff but SEO was never planned, Just learned it online and slowly turned it into full time work
Exactly, SEO wasn’t the main goal for 90% of the people who are currently working in SEO.

Treating people to Treating a website, that's a huge turn. wow, welcome to the forum brother
History of Film. I intend to return to university next year to get a Masters degree and possibly a PhD. Didn't help me get a job but definitely the happiest 3 years of my life.
“History of Film” sounds more like something you study because you genuinely enjoy it, I am personally a Cinephile myself

Well, I have studied Electrical and have been in IM for now, and I am still studying Python, but not able to understand it :D

I had my B.S. in psychology and was going to get my master's, but the program, even back then, cost $5k for two classes plus expenses. Sometimes I regret not getting licensed, but then I see all the paperwork I would have to do instead of the actual counseling, and for me, I would rather deal with clients, not treatment plans.

I still ended up working with patients in almost every type of setting, from Forensic to child inpatient, but again, the burnout rate is high.

I studied one thing and somehow ended up fighting Google updates for a living

At this point SEO feels like a career where nobody planned to enter… we all just clicked one random YouTube video and never escaped.

If not SEO, I would probably be doing a normal peaceful job with proper sleep schedule.

Now fixing my sleep shedule seems like major gig.
