Hey everyone. Curious to hear opinions from people already running YouTube channels. Right now it feels like the competition is insane and growing without a team or budget is almost impossible. But at the same time, new channels still seem to blow up pretty fast. What actually matters most for growth now? Consistency, retention, thumbnails, Shorts, SEO, or just luck? And do you think it’s better to experiment with different types of content at the beginning, or stay focused on one niche from day one?

I am also working on youtube channel from scratch, things which matters are niche, thumbs, titles, video quality and consistency. SEO is for know how videos. Its definitely not luck. If you are good with videos, just go for it.

It still might be worth time to start your channel on YouTube from scratch in 2026.

I have a channel I created a year ago. I uploaded 5 AI-generated videos that generated ~5k views and 80 subscribers, so I would say new channels still can growth organically.

Niche down from day one, absolutely. If you experiment with different content types on a new channel, you confuse the algorithm and kill your seed CTR. You don't need a massive budget or a team, you just need a sharp package (Title + Thumb) and a solid concept. If your video idea is unique, YouTube will find an audience for it. Consistency matters, but a high CTR on a great concept matters way more.

Definitely yes. If you truly have a solid plan and engaging content ideas, start making money with YouTube and don’t hesitate.

new channels still blow up all the time because YT cares more about viewer response than channel age, some are just 1 week old and get lucky and blow up like crazy!

Yes its stillworth starting in 2026 retention consistency and strong thumbnails matter way more than having a big budget now

still worth it but growth mostly comes from good retention, thumbs and consistency
I’d pick one niche first instead of testing too much

Yes, it’s still worth starting. Competition is higher, but YouTube still pushes new creators if the content gets strong retention and engagement. Consistency, thumbnails, and keeping viewers watching matter more than subscriber count now. Shorts can help growth fast, but long-form content usually builds the stronger audience long term

It is worth to grow a YouTube channel , however, you do need to find an evergreen niche and upload videos consistently.

Topic selection matters most. If people do not care about the concept, a high budget will not save it. Experiment a little bit at first to find your voice, then lock into one niche once you see what works.

YouTube can pay you, but based on your consistency

working on a good niche started in march and yes its still worth it just pick a good niche and boom

Most new channels don’t fail because of budget — they fail because the idea, hook, or retention isn’t strong enough; YouTube still pushes great content no matter how small the creator is.

SEO still helps, but it won’t carry a weak video. The title and thumbnail get people to click, then the first 30 seconds and overall pacing decide if YouTube keeps pushing it. Shorts can help with reach, but they don’t always turn into loyal long-form viewers.

I prioritize developing niche markets. Of course, content consistency is essential, and viewer feedback is more important than the channel's age. I've also noticed some newly created channels have a large following.
