Recently I’ve noticed Instagram reach dropping even on accounts that were performing consistently before.
Reels getting fewer views
Slower engagement
Explore reach decreasing
Is anyone else experiencing the same lately?

Yes, there have been some slowdowns in the algorithm recently. This is because many updates have been made in the background. Instagram makes these updates periodically, and therefore, disruptions occur in the algorithms. Actually, this time they wanted to slow it down intentionally because previously, many things happened quickly due to the high level of interaction. Perhaps they wanted to slow it down, but you can be sure that it will return to normal after a while. Several Meta employees I know also confirm this.

As an algorithms expert, I can advise you to continue creating content during this period and focus on the content that is successful.

There have been some changes on Instagram lately, and I think the reason is algorithm updates. I noticed as an advertiser.

I've noticed the same trend recently. Consistency and testing new content styles still seem to help a bit though. Even well performing accounts are getting lower reel views and weaker explore reach. Seems like another algorithm shift or increased content saturation.

IG seems to be rotating distribution more aggressively now, so consistency, retention, and early engagement matter even more. also given that a lot of content creators nowadays, you can easily do the math

It depends on the niche. I think that's what everyone says but I haven't noticed that personally

I’ve actually had the opposite lately, reach has been pretty solid or even better on some accounts. Sometimes IG just stops pushing the same format after a while and you need to switch it up a bit, maybe that's the issue? Haven't really noticed a platform-wide drop...

Although many accounts are experiencing a drop in views and reach due to suspected algorithm changes, I've noticed that engagement in some areas remains very stable. Actually, a platform-wide decline isn't necessarily the case. Instagram might simply be discontinuing older formats after a long period. At this point, maintaining consistency and actively experimenting with new content styles is crucial.

Yeah I get it. I've seen many accounts actually able to reach less lately with how app is changing.

Feels like Instagram became much more retention focused now if the first few seconds don’t hook people, distribution drops fast smmcompare.com

Yeah a lot of people seem to be noticing it lately, feels like Instagram is pushing harder toward watch time, shares and saves now instead of just views/likes GOSO

It depends on the niche, Also once in a year their comes a period when the reach automatically drops even if you are consistent and you changed nothing, Their Algorithm and AI Changes periodically.

Noticed the same on a few pages recently. The weird part is it’s not just low-performing accounts anymore, even pages with stable reach are getting random drops on Reels and Explore. Feels like IG is being way more selective with what it pushes now.

Really depends on the current wave the algo has caught up with your content - as an advertiser's first-hand advice, try experimenting with duplicating campaigns, trying out creatives, audiences and even different ad accounts as not each brings the same results. Especially with new updates Meta could be quite inconsistent some times so don't stop pushing its limits, the juice is there.

It's almost like Instagram's algorithm is designed to make us all feel like we're yelling into a void unless we're willing to pay up

I'm experiencing this too on a couple of pages. The drop is real and it feels like IG is rotating distribution much more aggressively while updating the algo in the background.

The points about retention and watch time are spot on imo. If a reel doesn't hit insane watch time and immediate shares within the first few minutes, the algo just kills the reach. Relying on a single account right now is super risky because of how selective and random it has become. Best workaround is to keep testing new hooks and split the risk by pushing content across multiple accounts instead of putting all eggs in one basket.
