Hi everyone,

I have been testing Pinterest for a while and noticed something interesting.

Some of my older pins suddenly start getting impressions and clicks again after weeks or even months, while new pins sometimes take time to pick up.

So I am curious:
  • Do old pins still drive consistent traffic?
  • Or should we focus mainly on creating fresh pins?
  • Have you seen older pins outperform new ones over time?
I would love to hear your experiences.

Old pin can definitely still drive traffic, especially on Pinterest. Sometimes they pick up later once they gain engagement or get re indexed. I think a mix of fresh pins and optimizing older ones works best.

Pinterest tends to recycle content over time, so it’s normal for older pins to suddenly pick up again, which is why consistent new uploads plus letting existing pins age often works better than focusing on just one or the other

Old pins absolutely drive consistent traffic, that's what makes Pinterest different from every other platform. A pin from 2 years ago can suddenly spike if it gets repinned by the right account or lands in a seasonal search.
Fresh pins matter for testing new keywords and staying active in the algorithm but the real compounding happens on older content. I'd do both, keep publishing new pins but don't neglect optimising old ones with better descriptions or updated links.

it also depends on the niche, but yes, most old pins will still drive decent traffic so it's a very good idea to have them

Old pins can go viral again. Pinterest favors evergreen content. Refresh titles and images of old pins. Don't delete anything. Both old and new matter.

yes sir! i also notic this thing and i think you make new pins but add some foucs on old pins its better.

The short answer is that older pins not only continue to perform well, but they often end up being the ones that bring you the most traffic in the long run, pinterest isn't like Instagram, where content dies within hours, a well optimized pin can continue to bring in visits for months or even years after you posted it.

That said, the algorithm has changed the rules a bit, today, fresh pins that is, new images that haven't been uploaded before get a significant boost during their first few weeks, pinterest did this to stop people from reposting the same image on many different boards, but getting a boost at the beginning doesn't mean that older pins stop working.

The winning strategy today is to do both, on the one hand, keep creating new pins with different images for the same topic, on the other hand, don't abandon your older pins that are already performing well, update their descriptions from time to time, repost them on active boards, and give them a second life, this way, you build a library of assets that work for you without you having to be constantly posting.

Older pins can drive traffic for YEARS. New ones though can also drive traffic but they need some time to pick up.

Old pins can still drive traffic and even resurface over time, so combining fresh pins with optimizing and resharing high-performing older ones works best.

Older pins can resurface and outperform over time, so combining fresh content with optimizing and resharing proven pins is the most effective approach.

Yes, old pins are gold on Pinterest. Unlike other platforms, pins can resurface months later.
I have pins from 2 years ago still driving clicks.

Old pages can still bring traffic if they have quality content and backlinks. Google doesn't just consider new pages important, it ranks pages that are better and more useful. But if an old page isn't updated, its ranking can decline over time. So it's better to refresh old content and keep it optimized along with new pages.

Old pins can still drive traffic especially if they gain traction over time Pinterest often resurfaces good content so both matter in my experience older pins sometimes outperform new ones but consistent posting of fresh pins helps maintain steady growth and visibility

i have a few pins that get alot of engagement month after month but it's also good to add fresh pins to mix it up

that’s normal on Pinterest. Old pins can suddenly take off - it’s more like SEO than social, so they get picked up over time. I’ve had pins start getting traffic months later. New pins are still important, but don’t expect instant results every time. Best approach is both: keep posting new pins + let old ones age and rank.

Old pins can still drive strong traffic for months if they’re SEO-optimized and engaging, while fresh pins help maintain account activity, so the best strategy is consistently combining both.

All pins work but if you want to grow your audience, you have to keep adding new pins.
