Everyone is missing the real point. In 2026, keyword research isn't about finding "traffic words"—it’s about building Topical Authority.
Google doesn't rank standalone "quality articles" anymore. If you write first and optimize later, your site architecture will have massive semantic gaps. You need keyword research upfront to map out an entire topic cluster (all sub-topics and long-tails) before publishing post #1.
If your blog lacks a complete topical map, Google’s entity-graph will never view your new domain as an expert, no matter how good the writing is. You do it for site structure, not just SEO.
 
yes absolutely, blog con not start with keyword research. even if someone start it. there is no real benefit. first, select niche you want work on it. and after that do proper keyword research.
 
I suggest doing at least some keyword research before writing. it gives you an idea of what people are searching for, so your blog has a better chance of ranking, but you do not need to let it limit your creativity.
 
You can start without deep keyword research, but at least basic research helps a lot. No point writing 50 articles nobody searches for. I usually pick low competition keywords first, then focus on making the content actually useful.

From my experience, doing at least some keyword research first makes things a lot easier later on. Otherwise you can end up writing content nobody is really searching for.

Doesn't need to be super advanced though. Even basic keyword and topic research is usually enough when starting out.
 
You can start writing without it, but doing some keyword research first usually pays off.

Yes you can absolutely start blogging without deep keyword research, but doing at least some basic research helps a lot.
